Bentonville West High School students win STEM competition for cancer detection app
CENTERTON, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Bentonville West High School students are developing an app that can screen for oral cancer in an affordable and non-intrusive way.
The artificial intelligence-powered app was entered in the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow national STEM competition and was chosen as the Arkansas winner.

'They are looking for projects to try to make the world a better place. So, they try to develop apps and utilize emerging technologies like AI to try to develop programs that would help people out,' said Matthew Possehl, Bentonville computer science teacher.
Bentonville West was awarded a $12,000 Samsung technology prize package including a Samsung video kit to showcase their app.
