CHARLOTTE () — A 25-year-old woman may be in danger, according to Matthews Police and the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons. An Ashanti Alert has been issued for 25-year-old Amber Marie Tibbits. This means police have evidence of physical endangerment, abduction, or kidnapping. Tibbits is described as a white woman standing 5'4″ tall, weighing about 140 pounds. She has brown eyes and long brown hair down to the middle of her back. She may be wearing black pants and a multi-colored shirt. $15,000 reward offered in Catawba County mass shooting investigation Logan William Calaway, 23, is suspected in Tibbits's disappearance. He is described as a white man standing 5'10' tall and weighing 150 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He is thought to be wearing a dark green hoodie. Police believe Tibbits may have been taken in the Wells Fargo parking lot at 1401 Matthews Mint Hill Road in Matthews. This is near East Independence Boulevard and Matthews-Mint Hill Road. The public is asked to be on the lookout for a dark gray or black BMW sedan with a North Carolina license plate. Authorities did not know the license plate number of the BMW. The preliminary investigation shows that the victim and suspect are known to each other, police said. Anyone with information should call Detective L. MATTHEWS, N.C. () — Two young men accused of shooting at a man are wanted by Matthews Police. Around 6 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, a man told officers that two men with a handgun demanded money from him while he was walking near the 3600 block of Straussburg Woods Lane. The man says the two shot at him when he ran away. Luckily, he was not hurt. Indian Trail woman arrested, charged with locking boyfriend in Monroe storage unit for days: Records The suspects are described as two slim, black men approximately 18 to 25 years old, wearing black hoodies, masks, black pants and black gloves. The two were seen leaving the area in a white SUV. Police believe the SUV was a white 2021 Ford Explorer with the N.C. license plate RTC-3240 that was stolen earlier in the morning from the 11000 block of Torino Road. The vehicle was last seen on Albemarle Road near Wilgrove Mint Hill Road. Police believe the two incidents are isolated and not part of a string of crimes. Both suspects are considered armed and dangerous. The public is asked to stay away from them and call 911 or 704-847-5555 if you see them or have any information on the case. Matthews man accused of distributing child sexual abuse material: Police

MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Matthews man has been charged in connection to the distribution of child sexual abuse material, authorities announced on Thursday. Matthews detectives received a tip through the Internet Crimes Against Children database and opened an investigation. Jean Paul Vaca-Lopez, 22, of Matthews, was identified as the suspect. The North Carolina Bureau of Investigation and Matthews Police executed a search warrant at Vaca-Lopez's home on Jan. 23. Evidence was collected from the home that included lewd photos of underage children between the ages of 8 and 14, according to court documents. Vaca-Lopez has been charged with nine counts of felony second-degree exploitation of a minor. He was transported to the Mecklenburg County Jail on Feb. 6 and has since been released.
