Man gets seven months behind bars for abusing drugs in Padawan

KUCHING (June 25): The Magistrates' Court here today sentenced a 29-year-old man to seven months in jail for amphetamine and methamphetamine abuse.
Mattius Mick Jaquers pleaded guilty before High Court Senior Assistant Registrar Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali, who also ordered for him to undergo supervision for two years after completing his sentence.
He was charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, punishable under Section 15(1) of the same Act, which carries a jail sentence of up to two years, or a fine not exceeding RM5,000, and immediate supervision for a period not exceeding three years.
Mattius committed the offence at the Padawan District Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) around 3.10pm on March 27, after his urine tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, which are listed in the First Schedule of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
