Pinoy wins CA$80M jackpot in Canadian lottery
A Filipino man hit the jackpot after winning CA$80 million or over P3.2 billion in a lottery in Canada.
According to Mav Gonzales' report in '24 Oras' on Tuesday, Justin Simporios shared in an interview with Canadian media that he slept with his winning Lotto Max ticket at night.
'I place it in a Ziploc bag, I put it under my pillow case…' he said.
Simporio said that his huge blessing will secure his family's future.
'For me, it's really like securing my family's future right now. Like I talk to an adviser, make sure you make that money like a generational wealth,' he said.
He added that he will also use the money to help pay his sibling's student debt and allow his mother enjoy an early retirement.
Simporio is planning as well to help their relatives in the Philippines. He also plans to give back to his community in Surrey, British Columbia where he and his family have been residents for the past four years.
'We already have set charities in our brains, but we are just writing it down. We're gonna decide once we get to a financial adviser, for sure I wanna give back to the community,' he said. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
