Brighton 2-2 Leicester - the fans' verdict
We asked for your views on the 2-2 draw between Brighton and Leicester in the Premier are some of your comments:Brighton fansStuart: One of the worst performances I've seen at the Amex. Dunk was really poor, and I love Hinshelwood, but he's not a right-back - he is constantly out of position. Too many passes on the edge of the box, please just shoot. Leicester deserved the As awful as it was predictable. There weren't many Brighton fans turning up expecting us to win. The squad is ravaged by injuries, Dunk very sadly no longer good enough for this level and a head coach that's just been given a role too big for him. Any talk of Europe has to stop as we should just hope we can finish in the top half. It's been a really underwhelming season. Need it to be over quickly!Anton: See it so many times, great play and clever moves until it gets to the last strike, then it all goes wrong. We have missed a ton of goals season after season which should have been converted. Watching us move the ball with clever calculated passes, great intelligent game play and sometimes an almost second sight, just to be let down in front of fans Brad: Who is this Leicester side?! Couldn't score if our lives depended on it! And yet on Saturday they played like a team that had something to fight for! Let's hope we can now end this season on a bit of a Mavididi our best player - why hasn't the manager used him this season? There's a half decent team in there somewhere but Van Nistelrooy hasn't got a clue what his best team is, nor can he inspire them to fight for the club whose shirt they are A much better performance from the lads and on another day with a different referee we may have won the game. Coady penalty was harsh, Mavididi not given a penalty when his opponent had his hands around the neck/throat and his face. Encouraging signs, but we had them against West Ham too just after Ruud arrived.

Leicester finally end goal drought against Brighton to snap long losing run
Beleaguered Leicester scored for the first time in nine Premier League games and snapped an eight-match losing run by battling to a thrilling 2-2 draw away to Brighton. Caleb Okoli's maiden goal in English football earned the Foxes a deserved point at the Amex Stadium after Stephy Mavididi registered the club's first top-flight goal in 798 minutes of action with a first-half equaliser. Joao Pedro converted a pair of VAR-awarded penalties to twice put Brighton in front. But the ninth-placed Seagulls, whose pursuit of European qualification suffered another setback following successive defeats, paid a heavy price for failing to capitalise on a host of other chances and could easily have lost. Leicester dominated the closing stages and hit a post through Bilal El Khannouss three minutes from time. Ruud van Nistelrooy 's second-bottom side sit 14 points from safety with only 18 left to play for but the result means they cannot be relegated this weekend. Under-pressure boss Van Nistelrooy vowed to fight on ahead of the trip to the south coast. The Dutchman recalled Okoli and Mavididi as part of three changes from the side which started Monday's limp 3-0 loss to Newcastle, while Yasin Ayari, Simon Adingra and Pedro came into the Brighton team beaten 2-1 at bitter rivals Crystal Palace. Yankuba Minteh wastefully fired into the side-netting and Adingra was denied by Foxes goalkeeper Mads Hermansen as Brighton caused plenty of problems in the opening stages. Leicester looked shaky defensively but remained a threat on the counter-attack. Lively forward Mavididi, who had an early effort blocked by makeshift Seagulls centre-back Carlos Baleba, went close with another good opening, before the visitors' back-line was breached in the 31st minute. Foxes defender Conor Coady repelled Adingra's goal-bound effort with his left arm inside the six-yard box and, following a VAR check, Pedro sent Hermansen the wrong way to find the bottom-left corner from the spot. Albion captain Lewis Dunk then produced a superb block to deny Luke Thomas a leveller. But, after Adingra clipped the top of Leicester's crossbar, Dunk was at fault when the away side did hit back seven minutes before the break. The centre-back miscontrolled the ball in the centre circle, allowing El Khannouss, who scored Leicester's previous goal – the winner in a 2-1 success at Tottenham on January 26 – to burst clear and slip in Mavididi, who rifled a low shot through Bart Verbruggen after his initial cross was blocked. Pedro flashed wide and Matt O'Riley rattled the base of the right post as Brighton sought to regain their advantage. At the other end, Verbruggen was required to tip Kasey McAteer's header from a Thomas free-kick over the crossbar. Brighton regained the lead 10 minutes after the restart. O'Riley was dragged back by Thomas in the box and, following another VAR intervention, Pedro confidently dispatched the ball into the top-right corner. Van Nistelrooy responded with a triple change and, after substitute Patson Daka forced a fine save out of Verbruggen, saw his side level for a second time. El Khannouss delivered a delightful free-kick from wide on the right and Italian defender Okoli escaped the Brighton defence to find the net with a diving header. Leicester were in the ascendancy and very nearly stunned the home crowd further. El Khannouss curled against the woodwork three minutes from time and Mavididi's deflected effort flashed wide moments later before the home team were booed off.

Caleb Okoli pegs Brighton back as Leicester end miserable run of defeats
First the good news for Leicester fans: Stephy Mavididi's goal in the first half meant that Ruud van Nistelrooy's side avoided matching Crystal Palace's record of failing to score in nine straight Premier League defeats as they twice came from behind against Brighton to pick up their first point since the end of January. Unfortunately for the Dutchman and his beleaguered players, it has surely only delayed the inevitable for another week. Two more wins for Wolves will confirm Leicester's return to the Championship after a season to forget. But having twice fallen behind to penalties from João Pedro, it was the visiting supporters who came away smiling for a change as Caleb Okoli's thumping header denied Brighton the victory they badly needed. On an afternoon when the captain, Lewis Dunk, showed the years are finally catching up with him, Bilal El Khannouss almost won it late on for Leicester when he struck the post. It was another disappointing display from Fabian Hürzeler's side as they continue to falter in their pursuit of European football next season as they left the pitch to boos from some sections of the ground. Brighton could not have asked for better opponents as they attempted to get their season back on track after four games without a win. Had it not been for the 10 points they picked up under Steve Cooper at the start of the season, Leicester could have found themselves vying with Southampton to avoid becoming the worst Premier League team in history. A dismal run of 15 defeats from their previous 16 games has meant that any hopes of repeating their great escape of 2015 when they took 22 points from a possible 27 under Nigel Pearson after being bottom at Christmas have long since dissipated. Mavididi's early effort that was blocked by Carlos Baleba was greeted with ironic chants of 'we've had a shot' from the travelling supporters. They had a grandstand view behind Mads Hermansen's goal as the hosts created a number of early chances through the wingers Simon Adingra – replacing the injured Kaoru Mitoma – and Yankuba Minteh, who somehow contrived to miss the target at the far post after Adingra's floated cross. Mavididi should have made more of another sight of goal after a mistake from Dunk but there was something comical about the way Leicester fell behind minutes later. An incisive move started by Baleba – who was filling in at centre-back in place of the suspended Jan Paul van Hecke – saw Pervis Estupiñán cut the ball back for Adingra just inside the area. His shot was heading towards the goal before Conor Coady instinctively stuck out a hand and his sheepish reaction said it all. Incredibly, the referee, Darren Bond, waved play on and it still needed a lengthy VAR check to award the penalty. João Pedro stroked home with ease but Brighton's joy was short-lived. Once again Dunk was at fault as he failed to control a pass and El Khannouss picked out Mavididi, who finished under Bart Verbruggen. Cue wild celebrations in the away end 76 days after El Khannouss scored the winner against Tottenham back in the depths of January. João Pedro should have restored Brighton's lead just before half-time but the Brazilian dragged his shot wide with the goal gaping before Matt O'Riley saw his strike come back off the post. Sign up to Football Daily Kick off your evenings with the Guardian's take on the world of football after newsletter promotion Leicester again played a part in their own downfall at the start of the second half. O'Riley had just forced a good save from Hermansen when he tried to connect with Adingra's cross and was hailed back by Luke Thomas by his shirt. Bond allowed play to continue but was forced to reverse his decision for the second time of the afternoon as João Pedro repeated the trick from the spot. O'Riley has struggled to make a breakthrough after injuring his ankle within six minutes of his debut back in August and the Denmark midfielder set up Minteh for a golden opportunity to extend Brighton's lead that once more went begging. It almost proved costly when Mavididi played in the substitute Patson Daka around a statuesque Dunk but Verbruggen produced a strong save. Brighton survived when Kasey McAteer headed just wide yet there was to be no reprieve when Okoli arrived at the back post to head home a free-kick from El Khannouss.
