Arsenal teased by Leroy Sane 'contract update' after German's agent sits down with Bayern Munich chiefs - but 'two other Premier League giants' are keen on free transfer
Arsenal have been dealt a potential blow in their pursuit of Leroy Sane after his agent gave an upbeat update on contract talks with Bayern Munich. The winger's contract expires this summer and his agent Pini Zahavi has reportedly been speaking with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham over a Premier League return, as per BILD. Sane joined Bayern from Manchester City for £55million in 2020 but has been linked with a move away for some time and has reportedly been spending time in London with his wife Candice. He was once again an important cog in the Bayern machine this season as he scored 13 goals, made six assists, and helped them reclaim the Bundesliga title. And his agent Zahavi has told Sky Germany of a seemingly positive contract update talks, saying: 'We had a very good dinner, it was a nice dinner, I enjoyed it. But no news. 'I cannot speak about it, but it was a nice meeting.' Bayern are said to be insistent on not wanting to increase their current offering to Sane, which is made up of a fixed salary of €10million (£8.3million), plus a variable bonus of €5.5million (£4.6million). However, key figures within the club, including sporting director Max Eberl, are said to be willing to pay that sum in order to keep him on their books. As a result, Bayern are thought to be considering increasing his fixed salary up to €13 million (£10.9million) and reducing the bonuses accordingly. While Premier League sides are reportedly keen on landing Sane, Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray have also tabled an offer worth €10million per year to Sane. The German winger will have to make a decision over a potential new destination quickly, with Bayern wanting his future resolved prior to Bayern the club's departure for the Club World Cup on June 10. Sane was an integral part of Manchester City's 'Centurions' team in 2017-18 before he helped the club to win a domestic treble - including a second successive Premier League title - the following campaign. However, he endured a fraught end to his time in Manchester after suffering a torn ACL before joining Bayern in the summer of 2020.

New details emerge of Arne Slot's promises that convinced Florian Wirtz to snub Bayern Munich for Liverpool
Arne Slot reportedly made a crucial late intervention to convince Florian Wirtz to snub Bayern Munich for Liverpool this summer. The German attacker, 22, is one of the biggest names on the market in the upcoming transfer window with Liverpool going head to head with Bayern to tempt the Bayer Leverkusen star to join. That came after Man City withdrew from the race over soaring fees and Bayern had remained as favourites, before Mail Sport reported last week that the Reds were edging ahead for the 22-year-old, who scored 16 goals and registered 15 assists this season. Hans-Joachim Wirtz, Florian's father, then reportedly informed Bayern executives Uli Hoeness and Max Eberl of his son's decision to choose Liverpool during a phone call last week after the trio met up. It is said that Wirtz's father - who acts as his agent - revealed the 22-year-old is keen for a new challenge outside of the Bundesliga after spending five years in Leverkusen's first team. Wirtz's decision to snub Bayern in favour of Liverpool is claimed to have left officials at the club shocked. And, according to German outlet Bild, a decisive meeting with Slot on May 13 was critical in Wirtz's decision. The report claims that the 22-year-old was given permission by Leverkusen to speak to both the Dutchman and Bayern boss Vincent Kompany and Wirtz travelled to England earlier this month. During a meeting, it is said that Slot left Wirtz captivated, not only with his own passion but also that of the club and its fans. Elsewhere, discussions about Wirtz's specific role similarly played a major role in his decision. Slot was clear in his plans of where Wirtz would be playing in his title-winning side and the German was also promised that he would be a central part of Liverpool's attack. The 22-year-old did hold further conversations with Bayern on May 18, with the Bavarian giants desperate to do all they could to entice Wirtz, one of the best young players in the world, to join. A secret meeting took place in Munich on May 18, the same day that Bayern were publicly celebrating regaining the Bundesliga from Leverkusen. The report goes on to claim that Wirz's father had advised his son to have another think about his pending decision ahead of that gathering, even though he was believed to be leaning towards a move to the Premier League. After being flown into Munich, Wirtz was picked up by Bayern in a limousine and then secretly transported to an unnamed hotel. Wirtz then spoke to Kompany in a private room, where the Belgian explained how he would fit into his side and put on a charm offensive, using his laptop to show a presentation to the 22-year-old. Another meeting then took place in a hotel suite with several key Bayern figures, including board members Uli Hoeness, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Jan-Christian Dreesen and sports directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund. They were desperate to convince Wirtz to move to Munich, but Kompany is said to have already harboured concerns that Bayern were set to be snubbed by the Leverkusen star. And, days after that final meeting, Kompany's fears came true as Wirtz informed the club of his preference. This was confirmed by Bayern president Herbert Hainer on Saturday when he said: 'Max Eberl informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool.' Meanwhile, Mail Sport has previously revealed Liverpool have made formal contact with Leverkusen and the clubs will now negotiate over the hefty fee and potential add-ons. If Wirtz did complete a move, he would likely cost a British transfer record fee as Leverkusen want €150m (£125.9m).

Bayern Munich Add $34 Million Rated Jonathan Tah From Leverkusen
Jonathan Tah has joined Bayern Munich on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. The 29-year-old center-back, who has a Transfermarkt market value of €30 million ($34 million) has signed a contract until 2029 with the Bavarian giants. Whether Tah will join ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup or in July remains to be seen. Leverkusen has been reluctant to release the defender ahead of his contract expiring, asking for a transfer fee in the region of $1 million. 'It's no secret that we've had Jonathan Tah on our radar for a long time,' director of sport Max Eberl said in a club statement. 'We appreciate his quality: he's a character who takes on responsibility. Jonathan had a lot of offers but chose FC Bayern, which pleases us very much.' Indeed, Bayern Munich tried to sign Tah last summer. However, after heated negotiations between Bayern and Leverkusen, a deal ultimately fell through. Now, one year on, Bayern got their player on a free transfer instead. 'In Jonathan Tah, we've acquired a player with international experience and quality, who won't need much time to establish himself in our defence,' sporting director Christoph Freund said in a club statement. 'He'll be a good and important addition for us with his technical qualities as well as his manner and the way he leads.' Adding another defender has been paramount for Bayern Munich. The club lost English center-back Eric Dier to AS Monaco on a free transfer. Dayot Upamecano and Min-Jae Kim struggled with injuries throughout the season. Korean defender Kim, in particular, struggled with fitness issues that directly impacted his form. Furthermore, Japanese center-back Hiroki Ito broke his metatarsal at the beginning of the season and then struggled with complications from the injury in the spring. As a result, Ito will be out for the Club World Cup. Injuries to the backline meant that Bayern was significantly understaffed in defense on the final stretch of the season. An issue that ultimately cost them in the quarterfinals of the Champions League against Inter Milan. Those factors meant that Bayern revisited signing Tah for the summer. The German national team defender had announced last summer that he wasn't going to renew his contract in Leverkusen. With the Bayern deal collapsing last summer, Tah was subsequently linked with moves to the Premier League and LaLiga, where Barcelona was also interested. The Catalan giants under German head coach Hansi Flick were close to signing Tah. But registration issues meant a deal didn't come together. Thankfully for Tah, Bayern came back in for the defender. 'I'm very happy to be at FC Bayern,' Tah said in a club statement. 'I want to take on responsibility here and work hard every day so that we're successful as a team and win lots of trophies together.' Tah certainly knows how to win trophies. The 29-year-old was a crucial player in Leverkusen's undefeated 2023/24 domestic campaign, which ended with the club winning the double consisting of the Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal.

Leverkusen finished second in the Bundesliga table, 13 points behind Bayern, who were crowned league champions for a 34th time. Tah missed just one match for Leverkusen this season, and played all 10 in their run to the Champions League round of 16, where they lost to Bayern. He has featured regularly for Germany since his international debut in 2016, making 35 appearances for his country. He was selected in Julian Nagelsmann's squad for Germany's Nations League semi-final against Portugal on June 4.

Bayern Munich issue bitter statement with Liverpool poised to seal £126m Florian Wirtz deal - as Bundesliga giants' chief aims dig at the Reds
Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen has aimed a dig at Liverpool with the Bundesliga giants appearing to have been beaten by the Reds to the £126million signing of Florian Wirtz. The German attacker is one of the biggest names on the market in the upcoming transfer window with Liverpool going head to head with Bayern Munich to tempt the Bayer Leverkusen star to join. That came after Man City withdrew from the race over soaring fees and Bayern had remained as favourites, before Mail Sport reported last week that the Reds were edging ahead for the 22-year-old, who scored 16 goals and registered 15 assists this season. Hans-Joachim Wirtz, Florian's father, reportedly informed Bayern executives Uli Hoeness and Max Eberl over a phone call this week after the trio met up. It is said that Wirtz's father - who acts as his agent - revealed his son is keen for a new challenge outside of the Bundesliga after spending five years in Leverkusen's first team. Wirtz's decision to snub Bayern in favour of Liverpool is claimed to have left officials at the club shocked. Bayern chief executive Dreesen has insisted the club remains appealing to top players, while he took aim at Liverpool's absence from the upcoming Club World Cup. ' FC Bayern is one of the absolute top clubs in Europe and the world. Our appeal among fans, but also among players, is enormous,' Dreesen told TZ. 'The fact that not every player will end up with us is simply part of the package; it's the same for other top clubs. But everyone knows: with FC Bayern, you can win everything every year, you're involved in every competition – the upcoming Club World Cup is a good example of that. 'Just look at which clubs are represented there – and, most of all, which (clubs) aren't. The best European clubs are competing there – including FC Bayern. 'Our appeal, sporting ambitions, and economic power are well known to all top players around the world.' Liverpool narrowly missed out on the Club World Cup having finished as runners-up to Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League final. Bayern qualified as one of the 32 teams for the expanded competition due to being the best ranked eligible team in UEFA four year rankings. Mail Sport has previously revealed Liverpool have made formal contact with Leverkusen and the clubs will now negotiate over the hefty fee and potential add-ons. If Wirtz did complete a move, he would likely cost a British transfer record fee as Leverkusen want €150m (£125.9m). A reported earlier this week claimed Liverpool's opening offer was believed to be in 'excess' of €100million (£85m) with add-ons.
