Elizabeth Banks reveals surprising first job before Hollywood stardom which involved retrieving condoms from toilets

Elizabeth Banks has revealed she used to remove 'condoms and tampons' from toilets during her time as a 'chambermaid'. The actress, 51, has recalled her time taking on difficult jobs before finding success in films, and she recalled a period where she 'cleaned toilets' to make a living. She told The Kelly Clarkson Show: 'I started working really young. I've done everything. I was a waitress for a decade. I also was a chambermaid at a bed and breakfast.' The Charlie's Angels star took the opportunity to make a plea for any guests in the hospitality sector from someone who's been on the other side. She begged: 'I just have some advice for people who stay in hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts, whatever.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Please stop flushing things other than tepee down toilets. Like the amount of condoms and tampons I had to dig out of toilets as a 17-year-old is shocking to me.' However, Elizabeth conceded that the experience was character-building, and she feels like she's ready for anything. She added: 'Kelly, I can go anywhere. It's not glamorous this life you lead. You end up going a lot of crazy places and I'm like, 'I've been worse.' ' Elizabeth - who has kids Felix, 14, and Magnus, 12, with her husband Max Handelman - recently insisted her children have 'no interest' in following in her footsteps as actors when it comes to their own working ambitions. She told PEOPLE magazine: 'If my kids decide to get into acting, which they have currently no interest in, then I would be thrilled to ever do anything with them if they would deign to hang out with me. 'It's unlikely. In fact, it would have to be a paying job for them to actually want to hang out with me.' She also revealed one of her boys recently had a role in a school production, but wasn't impressed with the return he got for the work he put in. Speaking to E! News, she quipped: 'My son was recently in a school play and he said, 'That was a lot of effort for flowers and some applause!''
