Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 launch imminent as live demo units get ready for retail stores, report
With the dust now settled on the Galaxy S25 Edge launch, it's time to turn our attention to Samsung's next generation of high-end smartphones — and if you've been keeping up, you'll know that as we approach the July-August window, it's all about the foldables. This year, Samsung is expected to unveil not just two or three, but — if everything goes according to plan — a total of four foldable smartphones. These include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, and the heavily rumoured triple-fold device, the Galaxy G Fold. In a recent development, it's been reported that live demo units of three of these foldables entered production on April to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Max Jambor, live demo units of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (Q7), Galaxy Z Flip 7 (B7), and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (B7R) — all entered production on April 30. This essentially suggests that these devices are likely to launch simultaneously. Taking into account the Galaxy Z Fold 6's launch timeline from last year, along with the current production status of these upcoming models, it seems highly probable that the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE could debut as early as July. Source: Max Jambor/ X (formerly Twitter) Unfortunately, there's still no concrete information about Samsung's tri-fold phone — the Galaxy G Fold — entering production. However, given Samsung's tendency to surprise, much like the unexpected Galaxy S25 Edge tease during the earlier Galaxy Unpacked event, it wouldn't be far-fetched to imagine the company teasing the tri-fold device alongside the conventional foldables, with a full reveal expected later in the year. Anything's possible at this In terms of expectations, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is poised to be the showstopper. Rumours suggest a lighter chassis, a redesigned hinge for a less prominent crease, and an upgraded triple-camera system led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. Under the hood, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Of course, none of this has been officially confirmed by Samsung — at least, not for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, it is expected to arrive with a larger cover display — potentially around the 4-inch mark — along with noticeably slimmer bezels, both on the outside and inside. In a significant shift, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could be the first in the Galaxy Z series — across both Flip and Fold lines — to adopt an Exynos chipset instead of Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors. Specifically, the device is tipped to feature the Exynos 2500, Samsung's first smartphone chip built using its own second-generation 3nm manufacturing process. Entirely developed in-house, this new chipset is expected to deliver a substantial boost in both performance and energy there's the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE — Samsung's first-ever Fan Edition foldable. This model is said to closely align with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in terms of core specifications. Reports indicate it will feature the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset found in the Galaxy Z Flip 6, along with 12GB RAM and the same 50-megapixel primary rear camera. Battery capacity is expected to be 4,000mAh, with support for 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. The device has already received 3C certification in China and is expected to sport a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate, alongside a 3.4-inch cover screen — both identical to last year's Z Flip 6.

The Galaxy Z Flip FE may crash the Unpacked party after all
Galaxy Z Flip 6 . | Image Credit - PhoneArena A new rumor now says that the Galaxy Z Flip FE may be released with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 after all. Previously, we've heard that Samsung is planning to delay the Galaxy Z Flip FE (Fan Edition) foldable and not launch it together with the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Fold 7. However, a fresh new rumor says that the Flip FE may join its two siblings sooner than expected. Samsung is rumored to launch the first FE Flip foldable, which is said to be a more affordable version of the Galaxy Z Flip model, likely very similar to last year's Galaxy Z Flip 6. It may or may not be called Z Flip FE, or Z Flip 7 FE, or some rumors say even Z Flip Xe. Earlier reports claim the phone may be announced with the two foldables during an Unpacked event in July, but may not be released alongside them. Now, tipster Max Jambor hints at a different story. According to the tipster, live demo units for the new foldable phones have entered production together. This pretty much suggests that these units may be put in stores at the same time. Otherwise, it wouldn't be logical for Samsung to make them together, would it? If, of course, the leak is to be believed to begin with. Live Demo Units (for retail stores) of the Galaxy Z Fold7 (Q7), Galaxy Z Flip7 (B7) and Galaxy Z Flip7 FE (B7R) entered production on April 30th. According to shipping info I got, the B7R weighs 187 grams without box or charger — same as the Flip6 — Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) May 22, 2025 Current rumors claim an early July announcement for the Unpacked event. We will probably hear more about this 'affordable' version of a clamshell foldable by Samsung as we approach this moment. Samsung is yet to confirm a date for the summer Unpacked though, so the 'early July' expectation is based purely on leaks. What was believed earlier for the release of the Galaxy Z Flip FE was based mainly on previous FE models and Samsung's strategy with them. Samsung has an FE model for its flagship Galaxy S series, but it always releases it months later. This helps prevent the cheaper model from undercutting sales for the base Galaxy S model. If the tipster's prediction is accurate, the same risk would apply to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Flip FE. The FE's price has not leaked thus far, but we expect it to be around a couple of hundred dollars. We'll know more for sure soon, so stay tuned for that! As far as the Galaxy Z Flip FE's competition goes, it's pretty nonexistent at the moment. It is set to challenge the cheaper variant of the Motorola Razr, but that's about it. Foldables are usually more expensive, especially those that look gorgeous and sport a powerful chip (which is the current expectation for the Flip FE).

Report: Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE demo units will ship to stores soon
Samsung is expected to launch three foldables in early July: the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and Z Flip7 FE. A few weeks ago we heard that Samsung had started mass production and things appear to be progressing on schedule as Max Jambor reports that the company is preparing to ship demo units to stores. As with the previous report, it's these three classic foldables, the rumored tri-fold model is nowhere to be seen. That might join in later, similar to how the Galaxy S25 Edge trailed the main trio. The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE apparently weighs 187g, according to the shipping manifest. That's the same weight as last year's Z Flip6 to the gram. The FE is expected to have a design close to that old model with the smaller 3.4' cover display, while the Z Flip7 will feature an edge-to-edge cover display. Renders: Galaxy Z Fold7 • Galaxy Z Flip7 • (possibly) Galaxy Z Flip7 FE These two will have something in common, though, both will use Exynos chipsets – Exynos 2500 for the more premium flip and the older Exynos 2400 for the FE (and not the 2400e). The only exceptions to that will be North America and China, where the Z Flip7 will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite. We've seen evidence of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered Z Flip7 FE, so that might follow a similar strategy. The Galaxy Z Fold7 will be quite thin and will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite globally, at least based on current info. Anyway, once the new Galaxy foldables reach stores, we can expect to see more leaks coming out. Source

RIP Galaxy S26 Plus — the Galaxy S25 Edge may have sealed your fate
We only just saw the Galaxy S25 Edge in full for the first time this week, but there's already talk about the Galaxy S26 Edge, and how it could replace a potential Galaxy S26 Plus next year. Korean news site The Elec claims Samsung could get rid of its flagship phone series' Plus models and designate the Edge its official replacement in 2026. A swap back to the Plus in the future could still happen, but the initial move from Plus to Edge is apparently still on the cards. The site suggests Samsung's motivation for this is related to Plus models being the least popular of the three current Galaxy S versions it offers. The Elec claims the S25 Plus' sales target is allegedly less than half the size of either the regular S25 or S25 Ultra's, an imbalance that the brand new Edge model could help to address in the future. This Plus/Edge switch would match what we've heard Apple will be doing with the rumored iPhone 17 Air family later this year; getting rid of the current iPhone 16 Plus to make room. However, leaker Max Jambor responded to this story (via 9to5Google), saying this Edge/Plus swap is not a done deal. Samsung is instead waiting to see how the Galaxy S25 Edge sells before making a call. The smartphone world is still seemingly trying to make up its mind about the Galaxy S25 Edge. Compared to the S25 Plus, the Edge has a similar screen size, is only $100 more expensive, and has near-identical internals, including the same chipset and RAM/storage options. The Edge does swap the Plus' 50MP camera for a higher-res 200MP one, and is lighter and slimmer. But the extra camera on the Plus and its larger battery are two big reasons why users could still be better off ignoring Samsung's latest model. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Jambor claims there is a great deal of interest in the Galaxy S25 Edge, at least in Europe. But Samsung could still find that the middle child of its Galaxy S26 range sells worse than the basic model or the top-of-the-line model. It's hard to know when it comes to brand-new model types like this. Personally, I don't see any need for Samsung to rush to make the Edge the new Plus. It already has one of the largest smartphone portfolios of any device maker, so what's one more? Also, waiting another year or two could mean issues with the Edge, like the missing telephoto camera and below-average battery capacity, are resolved, closing the gap between it and the Plus. The Galaxy S25 Edge is still up for pre-orders if you're ready to swap to a skinny phone. And if you're unsure or curious as to what we make of the phone, you can read our Galaxy S25 Edge hands-on review, which we will update with a full verdict as soon as we can.
