Stars rally for soldiers
As Pakistan and India finally agreed to cease fire on Saturday, local celebs rallied behind our valiant armed forces. In a moment of intense geopolitical drama, Pakistan launched a retaliatory military campaign early Friday morning, Operation Bunyan un Marsoos, targeting key Indian air and military installations. The operation's name is derived from a verse in the Holy Quran, meaning "a wall made of molten lead," symbolising strength, unity, and invulnerability. The retaliation comes in the wake of India's recent missile attacks in various civilian areas across Punjab and Sindh. While the military manoeuvre has dominated global headlines, it has also sparked a wave of patriotic fervour and emotionally charged statements from Pakistani showbiz stars across Instagram. From heartfelt prayers for peace to fiery condemnations of India's leadership, Pakistani actors, singers, and influencers are using their Instagram stories and other social media platforms to extend support to the Pakistan Army and call attention to what they describe as India's aggressive provocation and political manipulation. Actor Maya Ali posted a two-part Instagram Story that struck a balance between hope for peace and strong criticism of Indian politics. Referring to the shelving of her 2023 film Aasmaan Bolay Ga, directed by Shoaib Mansoor, over allegations of being "too anti-India." She wrote, "What I still don't understand is why all this time, we were the only ones under pressure, the only ones extending a hand of friendship while top A-list Indian actors took on roles that glorified negativity and painted Pakistan in a bad light." In a follow-up story featuring a news broadcast from Pakistani state media, Maya added, "War should never happen. But India continues to provoke, without understanding the severe consequences. Innocent people do not deserve to mourn the loss of their loved ones." Maya was joined by actor Hira Mani, who posted a poetic tribute to the Pakistani armed forces in Urdu, ending with a rousing note of loyalty: "This green flag is my prayer, my survival, my loyalty." The message underlined her emotional alignment with Pakistan's defence forces in these tense times. Shameful and alarming Known for her outspoken personality, Hania Aamir didn't mince words. "What cowards," she wrote in her Instagram story, referring to India's early-morning missile strikes. "Praying for everyone's safety. Pakistan Zindabad." In addition to that, actor Urwa Hocane delivered one of the most politically charged statements yet. In her post, she addressed Operation Bunyan un Marsoos directly, writing: "I hope all warmongers are satisfied now! Only praying it all stops If there is anyone who still thinks Pakistan was behind the Pahalgam and Amritsar attacks, you are either blind or brainwashed." Hocane blamed the attacks on India's right-wing government: "These are Modi's dirty games, staged to win votes and fuel hate. The blood spilled is his ticket to power." Her statement added fuel to growing allegations from the Pakistani side that India staged false flag operations to justify military aggression. Singer Asim Azhar posted on X (formerly Twitter) and shared a screenshot on Instagram, praising the ISPR for its professional handling of the situation, stating, "Well done ISPR. Salute to all the Chiefs!" He commended their ability to expose lies and conspiracies spread by media outlets across the border. Azhar also highlighted Pakistanis' tendency to criticise their own, asserting, "We are far from being gullible unlike many others who believe everything and anything." He praised the unity of the country's forces, noting, "It is commendable how the Chiefs of all our forces have come together to brief and present to not just us as Pakistanis, but to the entire world in front of credible international journalists in such a professional and classy manner." Musician and actor Azaan Sami Khan joined the chorus with a sobering observation on India's current trajectory. "Religious fascism at its monstrous peak. Pakistan Zindabad," he posted, referring to the increasing influence of Hindutva politics in Indian governance. Actor Durefishan Saleem expressed her own frustration and heartbreak in her post. "I don't know how long we can keep advocating for peace when India continues with these cowardly 3AM attacks," she wrote. "It's hard to preach peace when provocation and aggression are the only responses we get. Shame." Unified we stand Numerous celebrities took to social media to express solidarity and support, including Khaqan Shahnawaz, Yumna Zaidi, Fahad Mustafa, Sunita Marshall, Saba Qamar, Asad Siddiqui, Sana Javed, and Usman Mukhtar. Each of them shared "Pakistan Zindabad" on their Instagram stories, showing their allegiance to the nation. In addition to these messages of support, some celebrities shared photos of their television screens, showing news of the military operation's commencement. Azekah Daniel, Zara Noor Abbas, and Awais Sulaman were among those who posted these images, highlighting their engagement with the unfolding events.

Avon student dominates Pi Day competition, recites 540 digits from memory
AVON, Conn. (WTNH) — In an extraordinary cognitive feat, an Avon third grader won by a landslide in a Pi Day competition, reciting 540 digits by memory in 10 minutes. Maya Ali, a student at Talcott Mountain Academy and Science Center, says she spent 250 days preparing for the competition. She says she memorized 20 digits per session through progressive recall. What's Right With Schools: Glastonbury middle schoolers sing their way to a competition stage 'When I got on stage, I was quite stressed,' Ali told News 8. 'But once you close your eyes and get in the flow it gets fun and easier.' Ali says in her practice sessions she was able to get to 600 digits. While she says she fell short on competition day, the young girl's memory sent jaws dropping. The school's dean says no student has ever been able to get close to what she achieved. 'It was like watching Michael Phelps jump in the pool at a junior high swim meet,' said Dean Kenneth Wright. 'She just flew past everyone. There are tricks and strategies you can use to memorize things, but once you get past a certain number, that's just grit.' 'I felt very happy and proud of myself and excited,' Ali said. The student says her father helped her immensely during practice sessions, being there for her every step of the way even when she felt like giving up at times. 'There were a few moments where she wanted to quit because it was just too frustrating and making too many mistakes, etc., but also there were moments where she would do 150 digits and just start running around the house with joy and pleasure,' said her father, Waqar Ali. He adds he was overcome with emotion watching her compete. 'I could not hold the tears back,' he said. 'I was having trouble holding the phone cause my hands were trembling so much. Just overjoyed with anxiety, pleasure, pride, so many emotions.' Ali says while it may have been her first Pi Day competition, it certainly won't be her last. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Pakistani Actresses Set the Trend with Farshi Shalwar
The Farshi Shalwar has been dominating social media lately, captivating designers, brands, and fashion lovers alike. This stunning revival seems to be a deliberate move by designers to bring back the beloved Shalwar after the long reign of straight pants, culottes, and flared trousers. A traditional South Asian attire with deep roots in Mughal history, the Farshi Shalwar is known for its regal, elegant look. Derived from the Persian word Farsh (meaning "floor"), the Farshi Shalwar reaches the ground, creating a dramatic and graceful silhouette. Once considered a garment of royalty, the Farshi Shalwar fell out of favor for a while, but it has returned to prominence, especially among the younger generation. While it typically appeals to young girls, some believe the trend is more suited to taller, leaner figures. However, the shift toward a more nostalgic, regal aesthetic has made the Farshi Shalwar one of the most sought-after pieces in current fashion. This is especially true as Eid collections this year are embracing the look in a big way. It's clear that Farshi Shalwars are no longer just a fleeting trend—they are a symbol of a stylish revival that is quickly becoming a wardrobe staple for many. Here are some of the top actresses rocking the Farshi Shalwar trend in 2025: 1. Ayeza Khan Ayeza Khan has been sharing multiple Farshi Shalwar looks on Instagram, most of which are character photoshoots for her upcoming drama Humraaz. However, she had a little fun with her fans, commenting, "It seems like the whole world is into Farshi these days... andddd here I am already over it because this is the 77th Farshi Shalwar I'm wearing this season!" Despite her playful exhaustion with the trend, we are absolutely loving her in every single Farshi look. 2. Maya Ali Maya Ali took to Brisbane, Australia, for the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital Fundraiser, where she wowed in a stunning Farshi Shalwar set by none other than Hussain Rehar. You can never go wrong with Hussain Rehar, and this outfit is no exception. The Farshi Shalwar in this look is the epitome of the style—it literally touches the floor, showcasing the classic design in its truest form. 3. Sadaf Kanwal When it comes to bringing the Farshi Shalwar trend back into the spotlight, a lot of credit has been given to Sadaf Kanwal. The actress has been wearing Farshi Shalwar looks for quite some time now, especially pairing them with short shirts. Recently, her fashion brand, Sadaf Kanwal Fashion, has been dominating the scene with its luxurious raw silk Farshi sets. These co-ord sets have become a must-have, and we can't recommend them enough. If you're looking for timeless elegance, get your hands on these sets while you can—they're a hot commodity right now! 4. Sumbul Iqbal Sumbul Iqbal shared a throwback photo of herself rocking a Farshi Shalwar from Sadaf Kanwal Fashion on Instagram, poking fun at the trend. In her post, she said, "Abhi yaad aya trending Farshi Shalwar tou meinne last year he phen li thii ab Eid per kya hoga?" (Now I remember, I wore the trending Farshi Shalwar last year, so what's going to happen this Eid?) Her playful caption highlights the dilemma of keeping up with fashion trends, especially when they keep coming back! 5. Hania Aamir Hania Aamir has been spotted wearing a butter yellow Farshi Shalwar set from Sajni, a color that's been one of the season's most sought-after hues. Extra points for wearing this stunning color, which continues to shine as a favorite for both spring and summer. Hania's chic look, worn during one of her trips to the UK, proves that the Farshi Shalwar can be both traditional and modern at the same time. 6. Sajal Aly Her recent Farshi Shalwar look from Kaida has made waves on social media. She donned the black-and-white best-seller set from Kaida, though unfortunately, their Eid orders are now closed. Sajal's sophisticated yet effortless style made this look one of the most talked-about of the season. This chic black and white Farshi Shalwar is a classic example of how versatile and stunning this trend can be. 7. Anmol Baloch Sadaf Kanwal's brand continues to reign supreme in the Farshi Shalwar world, and actress Anmol Baloch is the latest to showcase one of their stunning creations. She looked absolutely radiant in an electric blue Farshi Shalwar set, which proves that this trend works in bold, vibrant colors as well. It's clear that Sadaf Kanwal's brand is dominating the Farshi Shalwar scene, and Anmol Baloch wore it with confidence and elegance. 8. Mahira Khan When Mahira Khan wears something, it instantly becomes a trend. A great example is her wedding looks, such as the stunning Zara Shahjahan lehenga and the unforgettable chattapati Rano Heirlooms outfit she wore for her musical night. Although this post from her Instagram dates back to 2022, we couldn't agree more with her caption, 'Bring back the big Shalwars and Choti Kameez.' The combination of a big, dramatic Shalwar and a shorter Kameez seems poised to make a huge comeback, and we're already excited to see more of this look during Eid. Will you be rocking the farshi shalwar trend this Eid?
