Oklahoma OF Maya Bland enters the transfer portal
Oklahoma OF Maya Bland enters the transfer portal Two days into the offseason, the Oklahoma Sooners have lost two players to the transfer portal, with more likely to come. On Tuesday, true freshman catcher Corri Hicks announced via social media that she's entering the portal. On Wednesday, it's Maya Bland looking for a new home. Bland stated via Instagram, "Thank you Sooner Nation for the love and support you've shown me these past two years. I greatly appreciate it. God's got a new path for me but I will cherish my time as a Sooner." The sophomore appeared primarily as a pinch runner for the Sooners in her two years in Norman, but she did have some big moments at the plate in 2025. Against Oklahoma State, Bland hit a game-winning three-run home to secure the run-rule win over the Sooners' Bedlam rivals. During her career with Oklahoma, Bland hit .277 with two doubles, three home runs, and 14 RBIs. She had 11 stolen bases, including eight as a true freshman in 2024. The Oklahoma Sooners are set to return the key pieces to their outfield in 2025. Kasidi Pickering, Abigale Dayton, Hannah Coor, Tia Milloy, and Chaney Helton will be back. Oklahoma's also bringing in the No. 1 player in the 2025 recruiting class, outfielder Kai Minor. Social Media Reactions from Oklahoma Sooners 11-3 win over Oklahoma State
Social Media Reactions from Oklahoma Sooners 11-3 win over Oklahoma State The Oklahoma Sooners earned a statement win on Wednesday night, beating Oklahoma State 11-3 in run-rule fashion. Despite being held scoreless for the first couple of innings and trailing by three after Oklahoma State extended their lead to 3-0, the Sooners erupted for 11 unanswered runs over the final three innings of the game to get the top 25 Bedlam win. The Sooners improved to 35-3 on the season and reasserted their dominance over the Oklahoma State Cowgirls. Kasidi Pickering kicked off the scoring with a two-run home run, and Maya Bland put the Sooners in front with a three-run home run. From there, Ella Parker and Gabbie Garcia each drove in a pair of runs to propel the Sooners to the run-rule victory. Sam Landry recorded her 100th strikeout of the season and moved to 12-2 on the year. It was a huge performance on a record-setting night in which Oklahoma and Oklahoma State drew the largest crowd ever for a regular season game.
