‘Beer-proof parka' launched for Oasis fans to avoid a soaking at gigs this summer

Oasis fans will be drenched by a whopping 2,219,458 pints of beer this summer at the long-awaited reunion tour, enough to fill up a 25-metre swimming pool over one and a half times. The research found that fans are expected to buy 8,667,600 pints during the Oasis reunion tour in the UK, with a quarter (25%) of those to be thrown in the air in celebration. That means an equivalent of £16,587,187.61 worth of beer will be lost to enthusiastic fans at the Oasis sell-out gigs this year. The results were uncovered by statisticians who pored over new original consumer research of 2,000 British adults to determine just how many pints are expected to be spilt in excitement at the iconic reunion this year. To help protect fans from these celebratory beer spills, Radio X have launched a range of special 'beer-proof parkas' perfect for gig-goers this summer. A pint thrown in the air in celebration is a staple of British summertime, often seen during World Cups, European championships and gigs. Radio X Drive presenter Johnny Vaughan 'dry-tested' the packable- parkas outside a London pub, ensuring they are set to withstand any incoming liquids. Over three-quarters (77%) of fans polled said the Oasis reunion is one of the most exciting things to ever happen to them, with 37% saying the opportunity to see the band again would be just as, or more, memorable than their wedding day. Definitely Maybe is the nation's favourite Oasis album, taking 41% of the vote. Although Oasis are only performing their former hits this summer, 88% of fans would love to see the Gallaghers make new music. Not even the great British weather will put fans off, with 77% saying they'd watch Oasis perform come rain or shine. In fact, they'd be willing to stand in a downpour for an average of 9 hours just to see the Gallaghers reunite live. Matt Deverson, Managing Editor of Radio X said: 'We've created limited edition Radio X packable parkas to keep you beer-proofed and looking good during this summer of live music - including the biggest reunion gig in history! Because when pints start flying, we want to make sure you're not wearing them." The limited edition run of 250 beer-proof parkas from Radio X are on sale at the Radio X store for £28, with proceeds going to Radio X's charity Global's Make Some Noise.

'He's not well': Australian Idol star Guy Sebastian rushed to hospital to undergo surgery after suffering serious injury in football game

Guy Sebastian has been rushed to hospital after he sustained an injury during a football game with AFL legend Brendan Fevola. On Saturday, the Australian singer, 43, and former Carlton player, 44, teamed up to help Masala Dandenong Football Club break a losing streak at Lois Twohig Reserve in the Melbourne suburb of Dandenong North. Sebastian and Fevola led Masala to a tense 55–53 win over South Melbourne Districts as a thundering crowd cheered on the underdogs. The stars united as part of a promotion by Fox FM's Fifi, Fev, and Nick breakfast show, where Fevola offers his skills for battling local clubs. Masala suffered a 229-point defeat to St Bede's Mentone the week prior, but soared to victory with the 623-goal kicking star in their line-up. The AFL great scored six goals and plucked several one-handed marks to help secure the win. However, Sebastian's afternoon was cut short by injury. The Australian Idol 2003 runner-up could be seen limping out of the park in the fourth quarter. He had his leg iced and wrapped and left the ground on crutches. The Battle Scars hitmaker took to Instagram shortly afterwards and addressed his injury with worried fans. "Thought I'd strap on the boots after a LONG hiatus and performed for the locals," Sebastian said. "Great day out for Masala Dandenong getting their first win with @brendanfevola25 kicking a bag! "Unfortunately, I've done a proper number on myself. #realitycheck #sticktosinging #footyglorydaysareover @thefox1019." Fevola later appeared on Channel 7's Sunday Footy Feast where he revealed Sebastian ruptured his Achilles and was due to undergo surgery. "I spoke to him this morning, he's not well," the former Brisbane Lions player said. "He's ruptured his Achilles. He's getting surgery on Monday and is in hospital. "So he missed his mate's 40th, but hey, we got good headlines, which is great (laughs). "He had a mate's 40th back in Sydney, so when we decided to do this to help out a footy horrible. That was the whole point." Fevola said Guy agreed to Saturday's game and pushed himself to continue with the second quarter after originally only planning to play in the first. "There were a couple of other teams to play (on Saturday), but Guy Sebastian just released his new single, Maybe, so I said, 'mate, do you think you can come out and sing at half-time?'," he said. "And he said 'mate, I'd love to'." "Guy actually played the first quarter, sung at half-time, sung virtually a whole concert and then he was so into it, he was actually having a crack,' Fevola explained. "He goes, 'I'll play the second half'. Fourth quarter, I saw him fall down and I couldn't stop laughing because he just fell. I was like 'mate, singers shouldn't play footy, footy players shouldn't sing, keep to your genre'. "And he looked around, and he goes, 'I think something popped'. I said 'that's not good, because I've done both Achilles'." It came after the Victoria Amateur Football Club (VAFA) association investigated Sebastian and Fevola's appearance when VAFA clubs questioned their eligibility as the competition strictly prohibited payments to players. The investigation found Sebastian and Fevola would not be paid, so their appearance went ahead. Both stars were reportedly willing to sign a legal document to confirm the findings. A Fox FM producer said Sebastian and Fevola's appearance was purely 'a promotional exercise'.

Guy Sebastian in hospital awaiting surgery after serious injury

Australian pop star Guy Sebastian is in hospital and due to undergo surgery after suffering a rupturing Achilles in a local footy game alongside AFL great Brendan Fevola. The music and sporting veterans turned out for Masala Dandenong Thirds on Saturday and helped the struggling Division 5 team to a win one week after they were demolished by 229 points. WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE: Brendan Fevola shares update on Guy Sebastian's local footy injury. Sebastian, in full kit, performed some of his biggest hits at half-time and scrapped plans to leave early, getting back on the field only to finish with what he described as 'a little injury'. Fevola said it was a far worse situation than Sebastian let on. 'I spoke to him this morning, he's not well,' Fevola told Channel 7's Sunday Footy Feast. 'He had a mate's 40th back in Sydney so when we decided to do this to help out a footy club ... they're horrible. That was the whole point. 'There were a couple of other teams to play (on Saturday) but Guy Sebastian just released his new single, Maybe, so I said 'mate, do you think you can come out and sing at half-time and he said 'mate, I'd love to'.' The catch was that Sebastian would not be able to stay for the whole game, but he enjoyed himself so much that he stuck around to keep playing — a decision he would come to regret. So he missed his mate's 40th but hey we got good headlines, which is great (laughs).' Sebastian joined the circle for the team song while on crutches, then shared his own update in a light-hearted post on Instagram. 'Thought I'd strap on the boots after a LONG hiatus and performed for the locals,' he wrote. 'Great day out for Masala Dandenong getting their first win with Brendan Fevola kicking a bag! Fevola was the star of the show at Lois Twohig Reserve, kicking six goals in the Tigers' 7.13 (55) to 8.5 (53) win over South Melbourne. The win ended their 20-game losing streak. Fevola and Sebastian played in the match as part of a promotion run by Fevola's breakfast radio program. They were initially scrutinised for their involvement given VAFA rules state that no players are allowed to be paid. But Fevola hit out at the investigation, saying he never gets paid for any of his appearances. 'Everyone thinks I'm getting paid to be doing this but they don't realise we're doing it for radio,' Fevola said on The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick. 'All the other presidents around the VAFA have blown up. What's wrong with these people? Pull your head out of your butt. 'We are doing this for a team that is bottom, bottom, bottom of the ladder in Division 5. 'There's no cash here.' Fevola recently joined Richmond's AFLW side as a specialist coach helping out the forwards. Brendan Fevola at Richmond AFLW training in his role as a specialist forward coach. Credit: Richmond He said the role, his first formal position at a top club in more than a decade, came about after a dinner at veteran journalist Mike Sheahan's house. 'I didn't realise (Sheahan's daughter) Kate was involved at Richmond,' he told Sunday Footy Feast of the Tigers' long-time head of women's football. 'She sort of floated it as a 'what do I think of AFLW' and as I said to her, I've got four daughters and I pretty much watch every game and I have from the start. 'I've been down (at Punt Road) the last couple of months but pre-season officially kicks off tomorrow so I'm super excited for that. 'To be back in footy land, to be among the girls, I think it's a real credit to the AFLW girls — they don't get paid much, they're in their voluntary work for the last two months, they're in there every day. 'And they're doing it because they want to get better and they want to play footy. That really excites me, because they want to learn. 'They're pretty much sponges, everything you say they take in. They want to watch tape.' He said he is 'like a 12-year-old kid' when Richmond stars Katie Brennan and Monique Conti come to ask him for advice. 'I literally can't wait for tomorrow, I'm so pumped,' Fevola added.
