Joe Exotic became known worldwide after Netflix released the docu-series 'Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness' right in the midst of lockdown, forcing millions to stay at home and binge watch the tantalising series. The documentary series focused primarily on Joe's life, his ongoing feud with Carole Baskin and his now closed zoo in Oklahoma, proving a breakout hit for Netflix at the time. A sequel began streaming in November but did not receive similar acclaim as the original series. Amazon had also planned a series surrounding Joe's story, in which Nicolas Cage was to play the role of the zoo keeper. The project was later scrapped after producers deemed the story 'no longer relevant.' Joe is scheduled to be released from prison in March of 2036. If all goes according to plan, he will be 73 years of age when he is freed.
