Iraq's OEC set to implement 30 oil projects as part of 5-year plan: Report

Iraqi government-owned Oil Exploration Company (OEC) expects to implement more than 30 projects as part of its five-year plan, a news report said. The most prominent projects are in the Western Habbaniyah, close to Baghdad, in Anbar Governorate, and south of Al-Faka in Maysan Governorate, Al-Sabaah, an Arabic newspaper reported, citing OEC Director General Dr. Osama Raouf Hussein. Two other important projects are located in Nineveh, near Mosul, the report said. More than 200 formations have not yet been explored or drilled, Hussein said, adding that these promising reserves will translate into oil or gas after exploratory drilling operations. The company is undertaking seismic surveys, with potentially 50 geophysical investigations taking place after the data is processed to determine exploration locations, the official said. The Western Desert is among the most promising gas regions, Hussein said. OEC will work on several projects in the coming years, with 90 percent of these being gas-related, the report stated. Raj Bhavan to run fully on solar power soon: Governor

1 2 Bhubaneswar: The Raj Bhavan will be fully solar soon with plans to install a solar power plant of 400 kW. "It already has a 150 kW plant," governor Hari Babu Kambhampati said here on Saturday. "This should happen within the next three to four months. Raj Bhavan's electricity bill would drop to zero from the current Rs 3 lakh per month," he told media persons, adding this would be a significant step towards making the governor's house a net-zero energy campus. Highlighting his commitment to the green mission, Kambhampati said a fleet of Made-in-India electric vehicles has been introduced in the Raj Bhavan. These include four official cars in his fleet besides two-wheelers for staff members. The governor appealed to people to opt for solar energy by taking benefits of central schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana through rooftop solar installations and PM KUSUM Yojana meant for farmers to install solar pump sets for tubewells used in irrigation.
