McDONALD'S MALAYSIA SERVES UP APPRECIATION FOR TEACHERS

NEARLY 200 teachers from four schools across the Klang Valley were treated to a heartwarming celebration by McDonald's Malaysia in conjunction with National Teacher's Day.
The event is part of the quick service brand's annual campaign to honour and appreciate educators for their invaluable contribution in shaping the minds – and future – of the nation.
Held at McDonald's Bandar Sri Damansara Drive-Thru, the event welcomed teachers from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Damansara, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Desa Jaya 2, Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Chong Hwa, and Sri Bestari International School.
The afternoon was filled with energetic performances, fun-filled games, celebrity appearances, and McDonald's signature meals.
'Personally, I believe that teachers are one of the most important pillars of our society,' said McDonald's Malaysia chief marketing officer Chin Mei Lee in her welcome speech.
She shared that wherever a McDonald's restaurant is established, the brand is committed to giving back to the local community.
'As a brand that's deeply rooted in the community, it's only natural for us to give back.
'And at the heart of every community are the teachers – the ones who shape values and guide the next generation,' she added.
The celebration is part of McDonald's Malaysia's broader Teacher's Day campaign, which runs throughout the month of May 2025, celebrating educators from more than 300 schools across the country.
Appreciation events are also being held at various McDonald's outlets or brought directly to schools, with restaurant teams proactively reaching out to nearby education institutions to organise their own meaningful celebrations.
As an added gesture, McDonald's Malaysia will also be contributing a total of RM40,000 to selected schools nationwide, dedicated to enhancing and upgrading staffrooms – creating more comfortable spaces for the educators who give so much of themselves every day.
One of the teachers in attendance was SJK (C) Damansara headmistress Madam Lim Nyet Foong.
With 32 years in the classroom, she said that nothing brings her more pride than watching her students blossom into confident, well-rounded individuals – and that being honoured in this way by McDonald's Malaysia, was both delightful and unexpected.
'Through celebrations like these, we hope to deliver more than just meals – we want to create delicious feel-good moments that bring communities closer,' said McDonald's Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Datuk Azmir Jaafar.
'Teachers are the heart of every neighbourhood, and we are honoured to play a small part in celebrating their passion and dedication,' Azmir added.
Since its inception in 2017, the Teacher's Day campaign has evolved into one of McDonald's Malaysia's flagship community initiatives.
Notably, in 2019 and 2022, the company distributed 500,000 complimentary meal vouchers to teachers across the country.
Now in its ninth year, the initiative is part of 'Program Komuniti @ McDonald's'.
Through this programme, McDonald's Malaysia organises over 10,000 community-focused activities annually.
It ranges from support for families in need to appreciation events for teachers and frontliners.
