McDonald's axing five popular menu items from TODAY

More info McDonald's is axing five items, including its viral Minecraft meal from today, in a new menu 'shake up.' The change is set to allow the fast-food chain to introduce new batch of seasonal food options. A beloved meal deal many are sad to see go is the Minecraft movie deal including a Big Mac, nine McNuggets or four Veggie Dippers, with a side and a drink. Alongside the meal is an exclusive McDonald's toy, built in the style of a Minecraft character. READ MORE: McDonald's brings back much-loved treat in menu shake-up this week Another lunch-time favourite axed today is the Apple Cake McFlurry , which includes dairy ice cream with apple and shortcake pieces, and topped off with a sour apple sauce. The Philly Cheese Stack is a returning favourite which is also heading off the menu this May, made with two beef patties, cheese sauce, cheese slices, grilled and crispy onions and pickles wrapped up in a toasted bun. McDonalds' McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse is also making its departure, with the burger filled with a chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating with a smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, red onion, lettuce in a sesame-seed bun saying goodbye for now. The last item being pulled from the menu will be upsetting for those with a sweet tooth, as the Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie has been named as the final victim of the seasonal switch-over. McDonald's lovers shouldn't mourn the loss of the fast-food favourites too much though, as the chain has announced it will be launching a Frozen Cherry Lemonade tomorrow, alongside the McSpicyXFrank's RedHot, Steakhouse Stack and Biscoff McFlurry and Biscoff Frappe on May 7. A Breakfast Savers Menu will be launching in certain branches to test the waters, with a new Sausage Sandwich and a savers version of its Bacon Roll being brought out. McDonald's will also be introducing a Breakfast Bundle Deal, which comes with a Saver Bacon Roll or Sausage Sandwich, plus a drink, in select branches in the UK. The new Breakfast Savers Menu will be trialled in 332 restaurants from May 7 and will include customer favourites such as the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread and Hash Browns.

Little-known McDonald's in major US city serving up menu items you won't find elsewhere
While McDonald's is famed for its classic hamburger, iconic Big Mac and beloved Quarter Pounder , the fast-food giant's menu varies depending on location . McDonald's operates in more than 100 countries worldwide and many of them have menu items unique to them, including Italy's Panzerotti to China's century egg chicken porridge. But many Americans don't know that you don't have to leave the country to get a taste of McDonalds' international items . There's just one McDonald's restaurant in the US serving up an array of international cuisine. Located in the heart of Chicago , beneath the iconic golden arches of McDonald's global headquarters in the West Loop and next to McDonald's Hamburger University, is the McDonald's Global Menu Restaurant. The little-known restaurant offers a global menu that updates every 12 weeks. It has served up items including a Chicken McSpicy from Singapore or a McFlurry Banana Tart from Japan. At the moment, the location is offering a popular option for plant-based eaters - the McAloo Tikki burger. The burger, which hails from India, features a crispy, spicy potato-and-pea patty topped with tomato and finished with a sweet and tangy tomato mayo. McDonald's Global Menu Restaurant is the only US location the item is available from and it will be on the menu until June 23. The McAloo Tikki is currently on the menu Tanmay Dhuri, who grew up in India, was taken back to his childhood after ordering the burger during a recent visit to Chicago. "It has nostalgic value to it. It's not like something that's unique like in a flavor way, but it's just that everybody had it for so long," Dhuri told Axios . It appears to be a popular item as one cashier said customers keep on asking about it and she's even witnessed people ordering up to 30 of them at once. It's not the first time the McAloo has been sold in the US, the McDonald's Global Menu Restaurant also sold it in 2018 and again in 2023. Despite its popularity, it's still not a permanent feature on the menu. Other items that have featured on the Chicago restaurant's menu include the Biscoff McFlurry from the United Kingdom and Ireland, McShaker Fries from Finland, an Ebi Filet-O Burger from japan, Winter Fries from France, the McArabia Grilled Chicken from Saudi Arabia, the Double Bulgogi Burger from Korea and Poutine from Canada.
