Mark Zuckerberg Ate at a Japanese McDonald's And Was Blown Away By The Delicious Meal — Rated It 10/10 And Joked 'Give These Guys a Michelin Star'

Last year, Mark Zuckerberg sat down for a meal that, by all accounts, blew his tech-loving mind—and it wasn't at a five-star sushi bar or some underground Tokyo tasting room. It was McDonald's. "Japanese McDonald's: 10/10. Give these guys a Michelin star," the Meta CEO wrote in an Instagram post, wearing a shearling coat and Meta smart glasses, mid-bite into what looked like a bacon-and-fried-egg burger. His wife, Priscilla Chan, posed outside the restaurant like it was Nobu, not the Golden Arches. The next slide showed a tray loaded with a teriyaki McBurger, Filet-O-Fish, nuggets, fries, and a corn and edamame cup. Don't Miss: Hasbro, MGM, and Skechers trust this AI marketing firm — Deloitte's fastest-growing software company partners with Amazon, Walmart & Target – Zuckerberg's certainly not the first billionaire to act like McDonald's is fine dining. Warren Buffett has been committed to his breakfast ritual at McDonald's for decades. In "Becoming Warren Buffett," he explained how he decides what to order each morning depending on how the market is doing—$2.61 if it's a slow day, $3.17 if he's feeling flush. "She puts that amount in the cup by me here and that's what I go to McDonald's with," he said, referring to his late wife. His go-to meal? Sausage McMuffin with egg, plus a Coke. Yes, for breakfast. Then there's Bill Gates, who once stopped at a Hong Kong McDonald's with Buffett and paid with coupons. "Remember the laugh we had when we traveled to Hong Kong together and found a McDonald's?" Gates wrote in a 2017 blog post. "You offered to pay, dug into your pocket, and pulled out coupons!" Both Gates and Buffett also hold McDonald's "McGold" Cards, which let them eat there for free. Trending: Maker of the $60,000 foldable home has 3 factory buildings, 600+ houses built, and big plans to solve housing — So what gives? Why do billionaires with private jets keep circling back to McNuggets? It could be the reliability. Or maybe it's the price-to-pleasure ratio. McDonald's is one of the few global brands where $5 still buys you a full meal and the same fries you loved as a kid. Even Zuckerberg—whose usual tech diet is more AI than apple pie—couldn't resist the draw. There's something refreshing about a billionaire choosing McDonald's. Maybe it's the nostalgia. Maybe it's the convenience. Or maybe, deep down, they just like their assets like their meals: low-cost, high-yield, and easy to pick up on the way to global domination. Whatever the reason, when the rich and powerful want comfort food, they head for the arches. And apparently, in Japan, it's worthy of a Michelin star. McDonald's Closes Restaurants, Scraps Starbucks Rival

McDonald's has announced it is closing its CosMc's restaurants, which had been described as an attempt to rival Starbucks, with "CosMc's-inspired flavors" instead being deployed to conventional McDonald's sites as part of an "upcoming U.S. beverage test." Newsweek contacted McDonald's for comment on Monday via email outside of regular office hours. McDonald's announced it was launching standalone CosMc sites, named after a McDonaldland alien mascot, in 2023 with restaurants planned in Illinois and Texas. CosMc focused heavily on hot and cold drinks in a move the BBC suggested was aimed at competing in the "fast-coffee space" with companies such as Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. Closing its CosMc sites suggests McDonald's has failed to build a competitive rival to these big hitters in the beverage market, though the company insists it will be applying lessons learned to its other restaurants. In a statement released on May 23, McDonald's said that from late June it would be "closing all standalone pilot CosMc's locations on a rolling basis and discontinuing the CosMc's app." However, the company also said that, "building on the insights" it gained from the CosMc pilot, "CosMc's-inspired flavors will be landing at McDonald's as part of the upcoming U.S. beverage test." According to ABC News, McDonald's ended up opening eight CosMc's restaurants or drive-through sites, one near its Chicago headquarters and the other seven in Texas, with an initial plan to open 10 in the Lone Star State. However only five of the CosMc's branches were still open when Friday's announcement was made. The locations focused heavily on drinks such as churro frappé and boba drinks, with a smaller selection of food including McDonald's classics like the McFlurry and McMuffin. However, the launch in December 2023 coincided with a boycott campaign targeted at McDonald's after a franchise in Israel said it would donate meals to the Israel Defense Forces following the October 7 2023 Hamas attacks. In its statement, McDonald's said: "What started as a belief that McDonald's had the right to win in the fast-growing beverage space quickly came to life as a multi-location, small format, beverage-focused concept. It allowed us to test new, bold flavors and different technologies and processes without impacting the existing McDonald's experience for customers and crew. On X, formerly Twitter, David Henkes, a food and beverage industry expert, wrote: "Some of the least surprising news, particularly since they're now rolling many of the innovations into the broad McD system. But that's what an innovation incubator is for." The remaining CosMc's restaurants will now close down. It remains to be seen how many of their products will be introduced to mainstream McDonald's branches as part of the company's upcoming "beverage test." Earlier this month, McDonald's announced it was seeking to recruit "up to 375,000 restaurant employees" across the United States over the summer of 2025. Warren Buffett is stepping down – but his advice is still timeless

Buffett may have a net worth of around $168 billion, but he's managed to stay grounded. He has an egg McMuffin for breakfast every day and has lived in the same house in Omaha, Nebraska for more than 65 years. As well as becoming one of the world's sharpest investors, he has also become famous for the wit and wisdom he dispenses in his annual letter to Berkshire Hathaway's shareholders.

I tried McDonald's new £2 breakfast meal that's coming out in a few days

Most people are set in their ways when it comes to their McDonald's breakfast choice. The fast-food giant has rarely changed what early risers can expect over the years, with only a few exceptions. Fans were delighted last year when the breakfast wrap made its long-awaited return to the menu after being temporarily discontinued. More recently, McDonald's fruit juice range expanded to include a 'refreshing' apple juice. So when I was invited as one of the first in the UK to test a "brand new" addition to the breakfast menu at Liverpool's refurbished Lord Street location, my curiosity was piqued. With the breakfast selection largely staying the same for years, I was buzzing with speculation about what new food McDonald's might have whipped up. Having worked behind the scenes at several McDonald's stores from 2014 to 2018, I suspected that the 'new' item would likely be a twist using some familiar ingredients. I remember working a breakfast shift when the Cheesy Bacon Flatbreads were released, and they'd often sell out in less than an hour. I wasn't told much before arriving. Once there, a simple question from the staff – 'red or brown?' – ruled out I'd be eating chicken nuggets for breakfast, reports the Mirror. It was only a short wait before clarity was served up alongside two sandwiches. Embracing simplicity, the McDonald's team introduced the concept of the fresh Saver Bacon Roll (£2.19) and Sausage Roll (£1.99). Served with a choice of meat and a dollop of either ketchup or brown sauce, these offerings came not in the typical McMuffin but on toasted hamburger buns. These items are set to be the stars of the new morning Saver Menu, providing customers with a budget-friendly way to kickstart their day. The whole breakfast range includes some breakfast favourites, such as the iconic Hash Brown as well as the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread, Porridge, Apple Slices and both Tropicana fruit juice options. Initially, I wasn't convinced about swapping my usual McMuffin order for one of these. However, they did offer a lighter experience that impressed me. It seemed like an easier on-the-go option compared to a stodgy McMuffin or a very loaded Breakfast Wrap. We were informed that, once available, these could be paired with selected drinks to create a £2.99 Saver Meal. A hash brown wouldn't be included, but there's nothing stopping you from adding the £1.59 golden delight to your order. I was also told that the new Bacon Roll wouldn't replace the existing Bacon Roll for those who usually choose this in the morning. The new Bacon Roll is going to offer a cost-effective alternative, while the sausage sandwich is a completely new addition. These buns will be introduced in over 330 McDonald's outlets across the north west region and, if successful, they will be rolled out to more locations later in the year. The areas where McDonald's customers can order the new breakfast items include: They will be launched alongside the new seasonal menu next week on Wednesday, May 7. This shake-up focuses on the main menu and includes the return of the 'decadent" Steakhouse Stack burger and the McSpicy and Frank's RedHot collaboration. To cool off, fans of the fast food giant can get the new Frozen Cherry Lemonade or indulge in all things Biscoff. Customers can order the caramelised biscuit in McFlurry or Frappe form.
