McDonald's sneakily hikes price of popular menu items as customers moan about increases
MCDONALD'S has sneakily hiked the price of some its popular menu items, The Sun can reveal. We've found the price of four items has jumped by up to 15% in the last 12 months. 3 3 This week, Maccies brought back its popular Steakhouse Stack burger - but now it's around 10% more expensive. Last year, it cost 5.49 for the burger alone or £7.19 for a meal but now it's £5.99 and £7.99 respectively. Its Biscoff Frappe is also back, costing £3.09 - but it was £2.99 last year. While its Biscoff McFlurry is now £2.29, up from £1.99. That's an increase of a huge 15%. We've also spotted that its Mayo Chicken burger on its Saver menu is now £1.49, up from £1.39 in November last year. Prices at McDonald's do vary based on the location, partly due to some being franchises, which means they set their own prices. It's unclear if other items have also gone up in price, as McDonald's did not respond to our question on this matter. A spokesperson for McDonald's said it refused "to compromise on the quality of our ingredients – and that means when these ingredients cost more, we have to review our prices". It added: "Raising some prices means we are able to stand by our quality commitments, like our beef patties being made from 100% British and Irish beef or our Chicken McNuggets being made from 100% chicken breast. We know how much these mean to our customers. "Providing value remains an absolute priority. We continue to work tirelessly to ensure that every customer has a value offering that works for them." Customers' fury at price hikes Customers have been moaning on social media, including Reddit, about the increases. One said: "Why has McDonald's gotten so expensive?!!! More than £5 for a Big Mac is just wild." McDonald's Minecraft Taste Test - Sam Walker The post quickly got hundreds of comments, with plenty of people in agreement. "Ive stopped eating there a while ago, I always had couple of double cheeseburgers, they were 1.59 each and a wrap of the day that was 1.99," another commenter said. "Right now double cheeseburgers are over 2 quid I think. It's just not worth it anymore. Big Mac is 5 quid and I will destroy it in 4-5 bites. I rather make food at home now." Another person wrote: "I remember the days an extra value meal was £2.88." Pressure on prices Retailers and restaurant chains have been forced to pass cost increases on to customers in recent years because of rising inflation and business costs. The UK Government also last month raised the cost of National Insurance contributions for employers, making it more expensive to keep and hire employees. In January, Greggs also confirmed a hike to prices in its shops.

McDonald's to launch new breakfast menu items for first time ever with prices starting from 79p
MCDONALD'S has just made mornings tastier with its first-ever Breakfast Saver Menu. The bargain meals are launching in selected branches across the country with bites starting from as little as 79p. 4 The fast-food giant will be serving up favourites like the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread (£1.99), Saver Bacon Roll (£2.19), and porridge pots (£1.69). The Sausage Sandwich is an exciting new addition to the morning offerings and will cost just £1.99. There will also be a variety of snacks on offer, including apple slices (79p) and hash browns (£1.59), which can be washed down with Tropicana apple or orange juice (£1.89). The Breakfast Saver Menu will launch on May 7 across 332 UK restaurants in the North of the country for a short period of time. There will also be a Breakfast Bundle Deal in selected branches, where customers can grab a Saver Bacon Roll or Sausage Sandwich with a drink for just £2.99. Breakfast is served from 5 am to 11 am every day of the week, making it the perfect choice for those early starts. If your local branch is part of the Breakfast Saver Menu trial, don't panic - the classic meals like the McMuffins and pancakes will still be up for grabs. The shake up comes after Maccies pulled the plug on five beloved menu items - including the first ever 'adult Happy Meal'. The Minecraft Meal, which only launched in March, is being binned just weeks after it hit menus. What's on McDonald's Breakfast Saver Menu? From May 7, McDonald's customers in selected branches will be able to choose from a variety of bargain breakfasts: Saver Bacon Roll - £2.19 Sausage Sandwich - £1.99 Cheesy Bacon Flatbread - £1.99 Hash Brown - £1.59 Apple Slices - 79p Porridge - £1.69 Tropicana Apple or Orange juice - £1.89 It came with one of six collectable toys designed with grown-ups in mind, and cost £8.19 or £3.99 in the Happy Meal size. Also on the chopping block is the Mars McFlurry, a fan favourite made with creamy ice cream, chunks of chocolate-covered nougat and lashings of caramel sauce. It was priced at £2.19 for a regular and £1.69 for a mini. Two burgers are also getting the boot – the Philly Cheese Stack and McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse. The Philly Cheese Stack, which set customers back around £5.29 solo or £6.99 as a medium meal, was made with two Irish beef patties, a melted cheese slice, grilled and crispy onions, pickles and cheese sauce in a toasted bun. Meanwhile, the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse featured a chicken breast in a crispy coating with cheddar, red onion, lettuce and smoky BBQ sauce, all served in a sesame-topped sourdough-style bun. That one cost £5.79 on its own or £7.49 with fries and a drink. Finally, the Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie is also being dropped. The limited-edition Valentine's treat arrived back in February and was priced at £1.99. It came in a pink pastry shell filled with gooey raspberry compote and silky white chocolate ganache. But when one door closes, another one opens and there are plenty of exciting meals being added to the menu from May. For six weeks, the Biscoff McFlurry will be back, as well as the Biscoff Frappe. As the weather heats up, the chain is also launching a brand new Frozen Cherry Lemonade. The spicest burger created by McDonald's is also making a comeback in the form of the McSpicy x Frank's RedHot. Rep. Marcelle says family is recovering after grandson was found shot to death on MLK Day
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) – Democrat Louisiana State Representative C. Denise Marcelle says the family is slowly recovering after learning her grandson was found shot to death on Martin Luther King Day early this month. 22-year-old D'Shawn Brown was identified as the victim of a deadly shooting at a Mcdonalds on Airline Highway. 'Never imagined myself being here,' said Representative Marcelle. She says it's a different feeling being on the other side of a tragedy, mentioning she's always at the fore front of prayer vigils and tragic shootings in the community to help other grieving families. She says Brown was just at her home before he was killed. 'My grandson had just left here, said he'd be right back and never return,' she said. She says he was just trying to turn his life around when he was killed. She'll miss him and the bond they shared saying they shared the same birthday, often being called 'twins' from family. Marcelle has advocated for ending gun violence in her community. ' I've always been one to advocate against violence, and in fact, I don't even give away guns at my Christmas event,' she said. Man charged after one killed in shooting at McDonald's in Baton Rouge Representative Marcelle's family and friends have been reaching out offering support and help, including grandmothers and others who were also affected by gun violence. He leaves behind his four-year-old son, Denim. Marcelle says it's time for the community to rally together more to put an end to gun violence. 'I think it's important that we as a community be outraged,' said Marcelle. The family is planning his funeral for Feb. 1.
