Lynch resigns for City and has key role
Edin Lynch has signed a new contract with Edinburgh City and the Glasgow-born defender has a new role.
The 24-year-old player will take over captaincy of the club from 36-year-old, Edinburgh-born midfielder, Jon Robertson.
Last season was Lynch's first with the Meadowbank-based outfit after being part of Stenhousemuir's title winning side in season 2023/24.
City have also said that goalkeeper Mark Weir has signed a new contract with the club who finished third Scottish League Two last term, collecting 56 points from their 36 games, nine behind second-placed East Fife and ten adrift of champions, Peterhead.
They failed to earn promotion to Scottish League One through the play-offs, winning 1-0 at home to East Fife in the semi-final, first-leg in the Capital but losing 3-0 at Methil in the second-leg.
Season tickets are now available and the club have confirmed their Premier Sports Cup fixtures. They open on Saturday, July 12 (3pm) against Partick Thistle in Edinburgh, then they travel to Queen of the South on Tuesday, July 15 (7.45pm).
Their next outing is at home to Stranraer on Saturday, July 19 (3pm) and they then play Ross County, recently relegated from the William Hill Premiership, in Dingwall on Tuesday, July 22 (7.45pm).
