The Charlotte Running Company has been a part of the 'sole' of Charlotte's running scene since 2000. A single store has grown into a chain of five locations across Queen City. And at one point, it was named the best running store in the country. Meck Mile: 8 competitors run for 4 hours to raise money for Hurricane Helene relief
Eight competitors in the Meck Mile ran for four hours straight on Saturday to raise money for Hurricane Helene relief. Several of the runners have ties to Western North Carolina and were in the Asheville area when the hurricane hit. On Saturday, they ran from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with each lap they ran being sponsored, with the money going towards relief in western North Carolina. Channel 9's DaShawn Brown caught up with several of these runners. Hear more about their stories in the video at the top of this story.

Meck Mile: Half marathoner sets out to run race backwards
Jesus Delatorre had a unique idea when he stepped ot the starting line at Meck Mile last year. He was going to run backwards. So he did. And he did it again at this year's Meck Mile. He said he was inspired because the whole event felt like a party. And he quickly realized he could still hold his own, even while backwards. Professional runners warm up as the second annual Meck Mile is underway
Meck Mile runners are warming up for Saturday night's Elite Professional Heat race. The Charlotte event has drawn runners from across the country. Other participants have walked and ran through other races leading up to the Elite Professional Heat race. Now, the professionals face Memorial Stadium.
