The Media Committee for Baghdad Summit confirmed on Thursday that 381 Arab and foreign journalists entered the country to cover the events of the Arab Summit in Baghdad. It indicated that the Baghdad Summit transcends its Arab character to truly become a summit of global significance.
Committee member Haider Majeed told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The press center in Baghdad is witnessing a large turnout from various media outlets, including print, audio, and visual, in addition to electronic media," noting that "this summit transcends its Arab character to truly become a summit of global significance, given the scale of media participation from various countries around the world."
He explained that "a special media platform has been launched in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, and all Iraqi embassies abroad have been directed to provide the necessary facilities for journalists, including granting entry visas quickly and free of charge, in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani."
He added, "The press center, which began working three days ago, receives journalists around the clock. To date, it has received 381 Arab and foreign journalists who entered the country via Baghdad International Airport. The numbers are expected to increase until Friday evening, ahead of the start of the Arab Summit."
He pointed out that "the center is equipped with all technical and logistical services and is fully prepared to receive journalists and cover the summit." He explained that "Al-Sudani visited the press center two days ago and expressed his great interest in the media aspect, given its pivotal role in conveying the details and events of the summit to the world, given that the center is the official platform for all news and information issued by the summit."
