Davenport home heavily damaged by fire
There were no firefighter injuries reported from a house fire in Davenport.
According to a release, on March 11 at approximately 11:46 a.m., the Davenport Fire Department responded to the 2400 block of Nevada Ave. for a structure fire. The first fire crew on scene discovered heavy smoke coming from the attic area of the home. Fire crews entered the structure and searched for occupants, but all were outside prior to fire department arrival.
The fire was accessed by pulling down the ceiling and extinguished with a single hose line. There was heavy fire damage to the attic space with smoke and water damage to the floor below. Crews remained on scene for about two hours.
The occupant of the home was assessed by Medic EMS of Scott County and released. Mid-American assisted with controlling of the utilities. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
