Kuwait Enforces Health Standards: 5 Clinics Shut, 23 Under Scrutiny

KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi issued a decision Monday, referring 23 private healthcare facilities — including hospitals, medical centers, clinics and laboratories — to the Medical Liability Authority; in addition to the closure of five healthcare facilities, for violating rules and regulations on advertising and medical practice. This decision was taken after the specialized inspection teams uncovered violations of Ministerial Resolution No. 87/ 2023, which regulates advertising in the private medical sector. It was found that some advertisements contradict the principles of the medical profession, promote practices that are not scientifically approved, or have a commercial nature that is inconsistent with professional ethics. The violations also included transgressions in medical practices as per the provisions of Law No. 70/2020 regulating the practice of medicine and allied professions, the rights of patients, and health facilities; hence, the need to take legal action against the violating facilities. The Ministry of Health confirmed that close field monitoring of health facilities in the private sector is ongoing, with the aim of raising performance efficiency and ensuring everyone's compliance with professional standards and approved health legislation. It emphasized that patient safety and the quality of health services are priorities without compromise, and that it is continuing to strictly implement the laws to protect public health and promote a safe, high-quality health environment

Kuwait takes action against 34 private health facilities for ad rule violations

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi issued a decision on Wednesday to refer 34 private health facilities to the Medical Liability Authority for serious violations of medical advertisement regulations and controls. In a press statement, the Ministry explained that the referral decision is part of its ongoing oversight of the health sector and its commitment to upholding the principles of the medical profession while ensuring the quality and safety of healthcare services. The Ministry added that specialized inspection teams observed several advertisements during the holy month of Ramadan that promoted inaccurate information, violated professional standards, and contravened Ministerial Resolution No. (87) of 2023, which regulates medical advertisements in the private sector. Some of these advertisements even included indecent images, which the Ministry deemed a violation of public decency and unacceptable conduct, calling for accountability. Additionally, the Ministry noted that some clinics, medical centers, laboratories, and dental centers failed to meet their professional and ethical responsibilities, leading to legal actions being taken against them. The Ministry emphasized that any violation or breach of approved controls and regulations will be addressed immediately and without leniency, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure a safe, healthy environment and enhance the efficiency and quality of medical services in the country, in accordance with the highest professional standards.
