Boy Meets World's Will Friedle To Be A Grandfather
Will Friedle has revealed that he is going to be a grandfather, and I am officially feeling old.
For reference, Will was just 17 years old when he shot to global fame as Eric Matthews in the '90s sitcom Boy Meets World, which ran until 2000.
Since then, Will has enjoyed an incredibly successful voice acting career, and in 2022, he and his former co-stars Danielle Fishel and Rider Strong launched their rewatch podcast, Pod Meets World.
And it was on Monday's episode of the pod that Will, now 48, shared his exciting personal news, where he admitted that he can't wait to be a 'poppy.'
If you have ever listened to the podcast, then you might be a little confused, as Will has always been very vocal about his decision to remain child-free, and often comments on how glad he is to not have kids when Rider and Danielle talk about their parenting experiences.
However, Will is a stepfather to his wife Susan's daughter, Lexi, who was already 21 years old when he and Susan first started dating. Will and Susan, 51, married in 2016, and Lexi is now 35 years Meets World stage manager and director Lynn McCracken was Pod Meets World's guest on Monday, and toward the end of the interview, she reflected on how her career was impacted when she had children.'Y'all make it sound so wonderful!' Will joked as Danielle and Rider agreed with Lynn about the struggle of balancing work and children. Lynn then said: 'Will, I'm sorry!''Are you kidding?!' Will quipped. 'I'm sorry for y'all, I'm good!'
'Will's about to be a grandfather,' Danielle then revealed, with Lynn unable to hide her shock as she repeatedly exclaimed: 'What?!'
'I'm about to be a grandfather, actually,' Will confirmed. 'Yeah, my stepdaughter's about to have my first grandchild, so I'm very happy. I'm 'bout to be a poppy!'
'Oh my god!' Lynn reacted, with Danielle adding: 'It's going to be fun, I can't wait.''It's gonna be great,' Will agreed. 'I can't either!'
Will's news comes shortly after he left Danielle and Rider speechless when he admitted that he doesn't mark Mother's Day with Susan in any capacity, despite her being a mom.
Will became noticeably flustered when both of his cohosts told him that he should be honoring his wife on this day, with the star admitting that he 'probably' didn't even tell her 'Happy Mother's Day' earlier this month. 'I've never thought about it!' Will sheepishly confessed. 'Where it's like… It's Mother's… Lexi's 35! I wish my mom a happy Mother's Day, send flowers or do something, but I worship my wife every other day — I don't worship her any differently on Mother's Day!Rider and Danielle's reactions appeared to strike a chord with Will, and he ended up realizing: 'I'm going to have to celebrate Sue, I owe her retroactively. I owe her a bunch of Mother's Day stuff!'
Huge congratulations to Will and Susan on their upcoming new arrival!
