21-year-old South Carolina woman killed in multi-vehicle crash, coroner says
A South Carolina woman was killed Thursday in a multi-vehicle crash, according to the Berkeley County Coroner's Office. Meghan Laurence, a 21-year-old Hanahan resident, was the victim, Coroner Darnell Hartwell said in a news release. The crash happened before 11:30 a.m. in the area near the intersection of St. James Avenue and Cobblestone Village Drive, according to the release. That's in Goose Creek, about 24 miles from Charleston. Laurence was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla on St. James Avenue, Hartwell said. The Goose Creek Police Department said the Toyota crashed into the back of a dump truck that was pulling a trailer, WCSC reported. Laurence died at the scene from injuries suffered in the wreck, according to the release. No other injuries were reported. There was no word if anyone involved in the crash was wearing a seat belt, but the collision continues to be investigated by police and the coroner's office. Through Feb. 16, at least 86 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2025, according to the state Department of Public Safety. Last year, at least 948 people died in crashes in South Carolina, DPS reported. At least six people have died in Berkeley County crashes in 2025, according to DPS data. There were 32 deaths in the county in 2024, DPS reported.

21-year-old woman killed in Goose Creek crash: Coroner
BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — A 21-year-old woman died Thursday morning after being injured in a multi-car crash in Goose Creek, according to the Berkeley County Coroner's Office. Coroner Darnell Hartwell said the victim was driving a 2010 Toyota Corolla along St. James Avenue near Cobblestone Village Drive around 11:30 a.m. when she was involved in a crash.
