Bloomer woman charged with meth use near small child; warrant issued for her arrest
CHIPPEWA FALLS — A Bloomer woman accused of possessing meth near a five-year-old child has now been charged. The woman has refused to meet with police, so a warrant has been issued for her arrest. Katrina M. Meighen, 38, 1603 16th Ave., was charged Friday in Chippewa County Court with possession of meth with the intent to deliver, neglecting a child and possessing drug paraphernalia. Judge Benjamin Lane issued a warrant for Meighen's arrest on Friday. According to the criminal complaint, police were sent to a home in Bloomer for a possible drug overdose. A man in the home had been on a FaceTime conversation when he suffered signs of a possible overdose. When police arrived and spoke to the man, he noted he was babysitting Meighen's five-year-old child. Police believed that the man was under the influence of a stimulant drug. The officer called Meighen and explained that the man was possibly under the influence of methamphetamine or another illegal drug. The deputy asked permission to search the residence to check on her son, as well as check for any drugs. Meighen gave the officer permission to remove her son from the home and look for drugs. 'Law enforcement conducted a search of the residence and located a purple gem bag laying on the floor near the front door,' the complaint reads. 'The gem bag contained a white crystal substance. This bag was located near where officers made contact with [the babysitter.]' Near the foot of the bed, on top of a tote, officers located a purple gem bag containing a crystal substance. In the closet, law enforcement located glass pipes with crystal substances, jars of unknown liquids, and 4.7 grams of meth in one bag, and 11.2 grams in a different bag. They also found various drug paraphernalia, including a torch attached to a propane tank. The babysitter was detained, and in his bag, officers located three empty purple gem bags. These bags were the same style as the purple gem bags located in the residence. The five-year-old boy told police that the purple bags for drugs belonged to his mom. The child was picked up by his father. 'Law enforcement contacted Katrina via phone after the search,' the complaint reads. 'Katrina became upset with officers and claimed she had not granted consent during the previous phone call. Katrina then hung up on law enforcement. An attempt to locate was placed for Katrina, but law enforcement was unsuccessful in locating her.'
