Boston celebrates with ‘Lift Every Voice' event at the Strand Theatre
'We're here because Boston has been and will be a place where we recognize the diversity of our community,' she said. 'If you're part of a labor union, if you're part of our municipal partners in labor, thank you so much for what you do every day to keep our city running.'

The theatre received the musical and spoken word performances with cheers and applause, especially during the Floor Lords' athletically impressive breakdancing show.
At the event, people also celebrated the cultural significance of the Strand Theatre to Boston's Black community and recognized the accomplishments of Melodi Greene, who has been general manager of the theater for nearly 20 years.
