Delhi BJP launches ‘Sindoor Yatra' in memory of Pahalgam victims

NEW DELHI: Hundreds of women joined the BJP's 'Sindoor Yatra' in Connaught Place on Monday to praise the armed forces for their recent strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan. CM Rekha Gupta, former Union minister Smriti Irani, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva walked in the march, which was organised by the party's Mahila Morcha. The chief minister said the yatra was more than a ritual; it was a heartfelt tribute from the women of India to the armed forces. Through Operation Sindoor, she said, Indian soldiers had protected the honour of the country's daughters and sisters by destroying terrorist bases in Pakistan. 'On behalf of all the women of India, I thank our armed forces and salute their unmatched bravery,' she added. Participants marched under tight security while patriotic songs such as 'Mera Rang De Basanti Chola' and 'Meri Jaan Tiranga Hai' played in the background. 'Operation Sindoor is not just a mission but a message,' Smriti Irani told reporters. 'If terrorists target our daughters, the Indian armed forces will defend them. We bow to the women whose husbands and sons guard our borders, and we salute our soldiers. The Prime Minister has vowed that India will never bend or break.' The armed forces launched missile strikes on May 7 against nine terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir, including Jaish‑e‑Mohammad's base in Bahawalpur and Lashkar‑e‑Taiba's headquarters in Muridke. Operation Sindoor came two weeks after 26 civilians were killed in Pahalgam. Delhi CM Gupta leads ‘Sindoor Yatra' to honour army, Pahalgam victims

Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta and former Union minister Smriti Irani participated in a 'Sindoor Yatra' organised by the Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party at Connaught Place on Monday, in a show of solidarity with the armed forces and to 'honour the martyrs of Pahalgam'. Gupta described the event as 'far more than just a ceremonial gesture', calling it 'a powerful and heartfelt tribute from the women of the nation to our armed forces.' She said, 'Through Operation Sindoor, India's brave soldiers have valiantly safeguarded the honour and pride of the country's daughters and sisters—an achievement that fills the entire nation with pride. The government and armed forces launched a bold and decisive strike against terrorism in Pakistan, successfully dismantling every terrorist base.' Hundreds of women carrying tricolours took part in the yatra, which wound through central Delhi's Connaught Place amid heavy security, accompanied by patriotic songs like Mera Rang De Basanti Chola and Meri Jaan Tiranga Hai. The event also saw participation from Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva and West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat. Irani said Operation Sindoor was more than a campaign—it was a symbol of national pride and resolve. 'It sends a strong message to terrorists that whenever they look toward the women of this country, they will find the entire nation, the government of India, and our armed forces standing in defence of every daughter and mother. Through Operation Sindoor, we salute all women, and especially those mothers whose sons are safeguarding our borders,' she said. Irani added that the nation bows not only to the army but also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has pledged that India will 'neither bow down nor break.' She said, 'India's army and the nation together have given a strong reply to Pakistan: we will not rest until every terrorist camp is destroyed.'

New Delhi: Women turned out in big numbers for BJP's Sindoor Yatra in central Delhi's Connaught Place on Monday to laud the armed forces' recent incursions into Pakistan and the destruction of terror camps there. The march was taken out amid heavy security. Songs such as 'Mera Rang De Basanti Chola' and 'Meri Jaan Tiranga Hai' played. " Operation Sindoor is our nation's symbol and commitment. It is not a mission but a message to terrorists that if you cast an evil eye at our daughters, the Indian armed forces are there to protect them. We bow down to those women whose husbands and sons are safeguarding our borders and ensuring our safety. We bow to the armed forces. Our Prime Minister took a vow that he won't let the country break or kowtow to anayone," Irani said. Gupta said that through Operation Sindoor, the armed forces had protected the dignity of women in this country. "The terrorists were given a befitting reply, and we bow in front of them (the soldiers). We thank them from the bottom of our hearts," she said. "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, govt and armed forces launched a bold and decisive strike against terrorism in Pakistan, successfully dismantling every terrorist base," CM said. "On behalf of all the women of India, I offer my heartfelt gratitude to our armed forces," she said. Irani said Operation Sindoor was not just a campaign but a symbol of the nation's pride and commitment. "It sends a strong message to terrorists that whenever they look towards the women of this country, they will find the entire nation, Govt of India, and our armed forces standing in defence of every daughter and mother." She said the nation also bowed to PM Modi. "Today, India's army and the nation together have given a strong reply to Pakistan: we will not rest until every terrorist camp is destroyed," she said.
