Lorde Makes Candid Comments About Her Gender Identity And Feeling Somewhere 'In The Middle'
Lorde has spoken candidly about her changing feelings towards her gender identity. Earlier this month, the What Was That singer was among the guests at this year's Met Gala, and made an interesting comment about her outfit while speaking to Vogue on the red carpet. Describing the ensemble as 'something of an Easter egg', she said: 'More will be revealed. But I just love the [outfit's] open back. To me, it really represents where I'm at gender-wise. I feel like a man and a woman.' "This is my creation. it's something of an easter egg, more will be revealed, but I just love the open back, to me it really represents where I'm at gender wise. I feel like a man AND a woman"— Lorde talking to Emma Chamberlain at the Met — Lorde Updates 🧬⛓️ (@LordeUpdatesBR) May 6, 2025 Lorde elaborated more on this during an interview in Rolling Stone magazine published on Thursday. Describing herself as 'in the middle gender-wise', she revealed that her friend, fellow singer Chappell Roan, recently asked her whether this meant she identifies as non-binary. 'I was like, 'I'm a woman except for the days when I'm a man',' she explained. 'I know that's not a very satisfying answer, but there's a part of me that is really resistant to boxing it up.' Reflecting on the current hardships faced by transgender and other gender non-conforming people, Lorde added: 'I don't think that [my identity] is radical, to be honest. I see these incredibly brave young people, and it's complicated. 'Making the expression privately is one thing, but I want to make very clear that I'm not trying to take any space from anyone who has more on the line than me. Because I'm, comparatively, in a very safe place as a wealthy, cis, white woman.' Shakira Accidentally Lets Rihanna's Met Surprise Slip Before Red Carpet Reveal
Shakira accidentally blew Rihanna's big Met Gala surprise early. The 'Soltera' singer let her fellow star's pregnancy secret slip while telling NBC Los Angeles who she was most excited to run into on the red carpet. 'Rihanna! I want to see her,' Shakira told the outlet. 'I want to see her so bad, and I just heard the news too.' After a brief pause from the oblivious interviewer, the Colombian superstar revealed, 'She's pregnant!' Instantly, Shakira knew she had slipped up and put her hands on her face, looking horrified. 'It's time that we show the people what we was cooking up, and I'm glad everybody's happy for us, 'cause we definitely happy, you know.' The soon-to-be mother-of-three stepped onto the red carpet later that evening, where she donned a perfectly tailored suit-inspired gown by Marc Jacobs. Related...

Met Gala 2025: Doechii Arrives In Massive White Box Before Walking Red Carpet
Doechii before and after arriving at the 2025 Met Ball Evan Agostini/ AP / E! Doechii took extraordinary measures to make sure her Met Gala look stayed under wraps until she made it onto the red carpet. The Grammy-winning rapper and all-round woman of the hour made her Met Ball debut on Monday night, sporting a head-to-toe Louis Vuitton look that was undoubtedly one of the night's stand-outs. In order to get there, though, she had to bypass all of the photographers waiting outside of her hotel. And to do that, her team had to think a little outside of the box. Or, in this, case, inside. You see, in footage widely shared online in the hours before the Met Gala, Doechii was seen leaving her hotel flanked by an enormous white box on top of a luggage trolley, complete with a four or five umbrellas forming a makeshift room to ensure no one took her picture. ADVERTISEMENT She wasn't the only one trying to keep her outfit a secret, though. Right before she made it onto the red carpet, Sabrina Carpenter was seen leaving her hotel in an absolutely enormous fur coat, to conceal the outfit underneath. The Espresso singer wound up wearing a tailored brown blazer with train detail and, effectively, no bottoms, after claiming that Met Gala co-chair Pharrell Williams told her she was too 'short' to incorporate trousers into her tailored look. Zendaya's All-White Met Gala Look Could Be A Cheeky Wink At Her Engagement
Zendaya and stylist Law Roach are synonymous with breathtaking red-carpet moments, and the Met Gala has been no exception, with the two repeatedly delivering striking looks at the coveted fashion event year after year. But after Roach recently said the pair were 'doing their own thing this year' and would be attending 'separately,' it appears the actor still didn't miss a beat even without her longtime creative director at her hip. On Monday, Zendaya hit the red carpet at the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City donning a chic cream suit and matching hat. While it's unclear whether Roach styled her outfit, the 'Euphoria' star clearly nailed this year's theme, 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.' Social media users on X, formerly Twitter, praised the 'Challengers' actor over her dapper ensemble. The seasoned fashionista appeared on the red carpet sans her fiancé, Tom Holland, who has never attended the Met Gala before. Though the two didn't attend together, eagle-eyed fans noticed that she showed up sporting the engagement ring he gave her, making her all-white outfit a possible cheeky nod to her being a bride-to-be. The Marvel star notably had a heartwarming reason for his absence. Holland told Men's Health back in January that he avoids walking the red carpet with Zendaya, with the exception of her premieres, 'because it's not my moment, it's her moment, and if we go together, it's about us.'
