Shanghai E-Prix 2025 weather forecast: Expect two dramatically different races
Image credit: Formula E Rain seems to go hand in hand with most of the Formula E races, as after the rain played spoilsport in Tokyo as well as Monaco, a shower is again expected during one of the two races lined up at the Shanghai E-Prix. One can expect two very different races at the Shanghai International Circuit, with the double-header having a dry race as well as a rain-hit race on the cards this weekend. Shanghai E-Prix 2025 weather forecast According to the first day of the Shanghai E-Prix, May 30, will be dry but cloudy, as the Formula E drivers will have a free practice session at the Shanghai International Circuit. The temperature will be around 28 degrees Celsius, and there are no chances of a shower. The temperature on day 2, May 31, is expected to be in the range of 26–27 degrees Celsius. The day will begin with the second free practice session, to be followed by the qualifying race in the afternoon. It will be cloudy the entire day, with no chances of rain in the morning and noon. However, there are eleven percent chances of rain during the Round 10 Formula E race in the late afternoon at 3:05 PM local time (12:35 PM IST). Interestingly, the Round 11 Formula E race can be entirely different from the Round 10 race a day before, as there are 80–90 percent chances of rain. Day 3 of the Shanghai E-Prix will begin with the third free practice session, to be followed by the Round 11 qualifying race and then the final race at 3:05 PM local time (12:35 PM IST). There will also be a significant fall in temperature, which will be in the range of 17–19 degrees Celsius. What's new at the Shanghai E-Prix The Gen3 Evo cars will make their debut in China in the upcoming double-header. The Shanghai E-Prix will also feature the return of the mandatory Pit Boost feature, which has been introduced in Season 11 for double-header events. This strategic element will be implemented during Round 10 on Saturday. Every driver must use it once, but each team has only one Pit Boost rig. This means teammates can't use it at the same time, adding an important strategic twist that could affect the outcome of the race. Tokyo E-Prix 2025: Rain to dominate entire Tokyo double header, here's complete weather forecast for Formula E Round 8 and 9 races
Image credit: Formula E/X The excitement is building ahead of the next Formula E race as Japan gets ready to host the second season of the Tokyo E-Prix. But the weather forecast shows a 100 percent chance of rainfall on both Saturday and Sunday. This is enough to concern the Formula E drivers, as—despite the much-improved Gen3 Evo cars this year running on Hankook tyres—racing in rain comes with hard-to-overcome challenges and risks. However, the rain may skip the Round 9 race Sunday evening. Here's the complete weather forecast for the Tokyo Formula E race. Weather Forecast for Tokyo E-Prix Formula E Round 8, Friday - May 16 and Saturday – May 17 According to the weather in Tokyo is expected to remain pleasant at 21 degrees Celsius on Friday, though it will be a cloudy day. There are only slight chances of rain as the Formula E drivers take part in the First Free Practice session at 4 pm (local time) and 12:30 pm IST. The temperature will remain in the range of 18–20 degrees Celsius on Saturday. However, there is a 100 percent chance of rain throughout the day. Rain in the range of 2.6 mm to 3.3 mm is expected during the Second Free Practice at 8 am (local time) and the Qualifying race at 10:20 am (local time). The rain is expected to be much lighter, at 0.9 mm, during the main Round 8 race at 3:05 pm (local time), which will be broadcast in India at 11:35 am. Formula E Round 9, Sunday – May 18 The temperature will be in the range of 19–20 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while the rain will continue to be as heavy as the day before. There is a 100 percent chance of around 3.8 mm of rain during the Third Free Practice at 8 am (local time) and the Round 9 Qualifying at 10:20 am. But the good news is that no rain is predicted for the main Round 9 race, which will start at 3:05 pm (local time) and 11:35 am IST. Formula E Drivers on racing in wet conditions Mitch Evans told that it was 'very, very tricky' to race in wet conditions with the Hankook tyres in the recent races. He said, 'In qualifying it was like, I was terrible. Nothing, you can't wake them [the tyres] up. In the race I was way more comfortable from the start, but the pace difference between me and some other guys was huge. So yeah, you can quickly be two, three seconds a lap slower.' So, it's more like surviving rather than racing in the wet. Obviously, street tracks are always challenging in the wet, and grip levels are low."
