Indore: Chief minister Mohan Yadav after Prime Minister Narendra Modi 's public meeting in Bhopal, on Saturday evening arrived in Indore and took a ride in the Metro Train. During his journey, Yadav visited the metro's engine cabin to observe the operational systems and discussed the metro rail's functioning with officials, gathering detailed information. He also took the opportunity to interact with the women passengers, inquiring about their initial experiences with the new service. Upon arrival at the station, the Chief Minister garlanded the statue of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. Accompanying the Chief Minister were several prominent dignitaries, including Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, MP Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, MLAs Ramesh Mendola, Madhu Verma, Golu Shukla, Malini Laxman Singh Gaur, and Usha Thakur, along with senior officials concerned. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated this metro rail project earlier today from Bhopal, during a Mahasammelan on Women Empowerment held on the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary year of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. Swachh transport: Minister Indore: Union minister of state for housing and urban affairs Tokhan Sahu on Saturday lauded the Indore Metro project, calling it a prime example of a clean, safe, and environment-friendly transportation system. His remarks came during the launch of Indore Metro's commercial run at Gandhi Nagar Station, which has been renamed as Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Terminal. On the occasion, he, along with MP Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya and other dignitaries, flagged off the train. They also observed the station infrastructure, passenger amenities, and operational readiness. "The Indore Metro project will not only accelerate the city's traffic flow but also stands as an excellent example of a clean, safe, and eco-friendly transport system," said Sahu. He emphasized that the project "realizes Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dreams of 'Smart Cities' and a 'Green India.'" "The Metro will also become a new identity of pride and progress of Indore," he said as the minister also remembered Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar on her 300th birth anniversary. Sahu further highlighted the central govt's commitment to strengthening urban transportation systems across the country, citing the Indore Metro as a successful illustration of these efforts. Platform Screen Doors To Be Operated Manually For A Few Days Indore: With the initiation of Indore Metro's commercial run, the real testing of 'Platform Screen Doors' (PSDs) was checked as hundreds of enthusiastic people made a beeline and put a burden on it. "Indore is the country's first city where Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence (govt of India), has installed 'Platform Screen Doors' while working in collaboration with the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC)," a senior official, wishing anonymity, said. He added that the doors would initially be manually operated for the next few days. He added that PSDs are crucial for modern metro systems as they isolate platforms from tracks, ensuring enhanced safety. These doors open only when trains align perfectly with the platform, preventing accidents, trespassing, and objects from falling onto tracks. PSDs synchronize with train doors for seamless operation across the platform, ensuring passenger convenience and safety. "MPMRCL has signed an agreement with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to supply indigenously manufactured Platform Screen Doors (PSDs) for the Bhopal and Indore Metro Rail Projects. This initiative aligns with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and enhances passenger safety and operational efficiency on metro platforms," he said, adding that around 400 tests on PSDs have been carried out to check their load capacity and other parameters.

Indore's Metro dream to come true today
Indore: India's cleanest city, Indore, is poised to usher in a new era of public transportation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate the passenger service on Indore Metro's Super Priority Corridor from Bhopal on Saturday. In Indore, the inauguration ceremony will be held at the Gandhi Nagar Metro Station starting at 10:30am. The approximately 6km section of the Yellow Line forms the Super Priority Corridor, encompassing five stations including Gandhi Nagar Station, Super Corridor 6, Super Corridor 5, Super Corridor 4, and Super Corridor 3. This new corridor is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution, and provide commuters with a comfortable travel experience. Beyond its technical significance, the Metro Train's 'Super Priority Corridor' symbolises Indore's progressive journey towards modernisation. It's worth noting that the entire Yellow Line of the Indore Metro will span 31.32km (22.62 km elevated and 8.7 km underground) and will feature 28 stations, promising to make urban travel easier, faster, and more environmentally friendly. The total project cost for the 31.32-kilometre metro line is estimated at Rs 7500 crore, with the initial 6-kilometre corridor alone costing approximately Rs 1520 crore. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo This project is a crucial step towards transforming Indore into a modern, eco-friendly city. 1 Day To Go: Eager Wait For Ride In Metro
Indore: Excitement is palpable for the virtual inauguration of the Indore Metro on May 31 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Residents are keenly awaiting the expansion of its commercial operations beyond the initial 6-km 'Super Priority Corridor. ' The current stretch, running from Gandhi Nagar Station to Super Corridor Station-3, is seen as a welcome first step. However, commuters and real estate stakeholders are looking forward to the metro extending to the 17.5-km 'Priority Corridor' that will connect Gandhi Nagar Square with Radisson Square. Deepika Shukla, a resident of Sukhliya and a student at DAVV's Takshila Campus, expressed the prevailing sentiment, "All the available modes of transportation are time-consuming, and using our own vehicles is frustrating due to jams and slow traffic. The Metro will definitely give respite from all these issues once it is operational beyond Super Corridor." Employees of IT giants located on the Super Corridor, wishing anonymity, are equally thrilled about the Metro's imminent start. "Before the Metro Train project, this entire area used to be very deserted, but we are now expecting this road to flourish like Bhopal's VIP Road and Bhopal's Marine Drive," they remarked. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The anticipation surrounding the metro has already had a significant impact on property rates along its routes. According to property broker Suraj Dharmik, the Super Corridor initially attracted IT behemoths like TCS and Infosys, followed by numerous residential colonies. However, the arrival of the Metro Train project triggered a rapid surge in property values. "The Metro Train, which also has its depot at Super Corridor, is first starting its operations on this route only," Dharmik said. He noted that property rates in residential colonies on Super Corridor, which once ranged from Rs 2,000-Rs 3,000 per square foot, have now soared to Rs 7,000-Rs 8,500 per square foot in just the last 2-3 years. Anup Nigam, another property broker, echoed this sentiment. "I used to work for property dealing at Bypass and Khandwa Road, where despite all the connectivity and much more development, the property rates are not as high as they are on Super Corridor, and the biggest credit for this goes to Metro Train here," he said. While excitement is high, some residents voice concerns about the initial limited operational stretch. Vedant Chouhan, a resident of MR-10 Square, acknowledged the challenges faced during construction. "We faced all the troubles in the last 3-4 years during the construction of the Metro elevated corridor to welcome and enjoy this new mode of transportation," he said. "However, it doesn't seem the train's commercial operation will extend till Radisson Square soon. " The initial 6-km phase runs from Gandhi Nagar Station (approximately half a kilometre from Gandhi Nagar Square) to Super Corridor Station-3 (about 5.5 km from Luvkush Square). This poses a connectivity challenge for many, as there is currently limited public transportation like AICTSL buses or e-rickshaws operating directly on the Super Corridor to reach these stations. Senior MPMRCL officials have hinted that the commercial operation of the Indore Metro in the 17.5-km 'Priority Corridor' is expected by the end of this calendar year.

Chaos unfolds in downtown Los Angeles as large mob vandalizes police car, train, businesses
Officers had to form a skirmish line to clear a large mob that vandalized a Metro train, a police car and several businesses in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday night. A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA that units were dispatched to the 1700 block of Trinity Avenue near Washington Boulevard for reports of a group that was trespassing in the area around 10 p.m. 'The group vandalized a Metro train on Washington Boulevard. They also vandalized some businesses in the area,' the spokesperson said. Video from the scene obtained by KTLA shows dozens of vandals punching the slow-moving Metro train and spray painting it as it came to a halt. 'Around midnight, approximately 50 trespassers blocked two A Line trains traveling northbound and southbound at the intersection of Washington Boulevard and Maple Street, south of downtown Los Angeles,' Metro said in a statement given to KTLA. 'The trespassers began to spray paint on both trains and gained entry into the southbound train and sprayed paint on the interior of the train. During the incident, no operators or passengers were harmed and service was delayed around 20 minutes.' Several individuals were also seen vandalizing an LAPD squad car – even posing for pictures in front of it, shooting fireworks at it, kicking it and spray painting it as the officers started to drive away. Many of those who were not actively engaging in the vandalism were recording the chaos on their cell phones. Multiple area businesses also had graffiti scrawled on them, including a Panda Express, a WaBa Grill, a dialysis clinic and a medical building, among others. Footage from news stringer service OnSceneTV even shows a firebreather entertaining people on the sidewalk. At least one person was seen scaling a pole to get a better view of the chaos from above. Officers, who were positioned in the area in riot gear, eventually declared an unlawful assembly and formed a skirmish line. By 1 a.m. Sunday, the group had cleared out of the area, the LAPD spokesperson said. Metro added that the LAPD is continuing to investigate the incident, and that anyone with additional information is urged to contact LAPD Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477). There was no information indicating any arrests were made as of 3 p.m. Sunday. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
