HIGHLIGHTS: They've done it again, Coahoma wins third straight state title
AUSTIN, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Coahoma Bulldogettes have won the 3A-D2 State championship for a third straight year, beating the Lexington Eagles 6-1.
Mia Clemmer opened things up at the top of the first with an RBI double for the game's first score. However, the Eagles would respond with a run themselves thanks to an RBI single. The game would remain the same score until Hannah Wells broke out for a solo home run in the top of the third inning to make it 2-1. From there, Coahoma would add on four more runs before Wells threw her final strikeout with the Bulldogettes.
'It's a huge relief, you know, a huge relief,' says Head Coach Alex Orosco. 'I feel like now I'm going to take a deep breath of fresh air and just let it out. And just say, man, we did it again. We climbed the mountain, you know, successfully. We appreciate the support, man. We always do.'
Coahoma finishes the season with a 34-1, completing the coveted three-peat. Highlights of the game are above.
