Historical society hosts Civil War weekend in Miamisburg
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Miamisburg Historical Society hosted a Civil War Weekend on May 3 and 4. The free event ran from noon to 5 p.m. at the Heritage Village, 147 W. Lock St., Miamisburg. The event was a brisk walk south away from downtown Miamisburg. Experts set to illuminate Dayton's World War II History There were fun activities on both days, including historical reenactments, fabric arts demonstrations, antique tools on display, historic games, an ice cream social and live fiddle music. Reenactors taught attendees about the 93rd Ohio Infantry Regiment (OVI), cooking over fire, historic fashion, weaving/spinning and life durning the war. Local historical society to hold first Veterans Services Fair
MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) — The Miamisburg Historical Society will hold their first annual resource fair for veterans this weekend. The Miamisburg Historical Society will host its first Veterans Services Fair on Saturday, April 26 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is free open to the public, with an emphasis on connecting those who've served with local resources and support. WPAFB event looks to 'hire our heroes' with workshops, job fair During the event, attendees can meet with representatives of local, state and national veteran service organizations and explore programs that can help with health, education and career assistance. The Miamisburg Historical Society planned the event to honor those who have served by supporting them and connecting members of the community together. 'We are honored to host this important event as a way to support our local veterans and give back to those who have given so much,' said Ken Ballinger, Miamisburg Historical Society president. 'Our goal is to ensure that no veteran feels forgotten and that they know where to turn for help and opportunities.' Miamisburg exhibit to highlight local NASCAR family
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miamisburg Historical Society is set to open a new exhibit honoring the legacy of a local NASCAR family. Opening on Feb. 22, the exhibit will focus on the Korn family's stock car racing history of Red, Bobby, and his grandson, Lil Bobby. The exhibit's centerpiece will be the final car raced by Bobby Korn. Red, who was born in 1909, was a pivotal person in the history of race car manufacturing in the 1930s and was a driver himself. The Contemporary has big plans for Valentine's Day at the Dayton Arcade In 1959, Bobby Korn raced in the first Daytona 500. 'We are honored to share the story of the Korn family,' said Ken Ballinger, president of the Miamisburg Historical Society. 'Their dedication to stock car racing and their ties to our community make them a source of pride for Miamisburg. This exhibit not only celebrates their achievements but also preserves an important part of our local history.' The exhibit will start on Feb. 22. It will be open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the History Center, located at 35 South Fifth Street. Admission is free.
