Rio Tinto Talks With Congo Over Developing Prize Lithium Deposit

The conversations in recent weeks with Congolese authorities focused on Rio getting involved in transforming the Roche Dure resource into a lithium mine, according to people familiar with the matter. The discussions are at a preliminary stage and might not result in any agreement, the people said.

Rwanda-Backed Rebels, Congo Forces Clash in Goma for Second Day

M23 fighters stormed the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo city on Monday in an attempt to capture the trading and humanitarian hub that's home to 2 million people. The assault on the city drew condemnation from the US and the UN, as Rwandan President Paul Kagame faced growing pressure to stop backing the rebel group.
