‘Man in a hurry': Donald Trump ‘pushes the envelope' with executive orders

Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger says US President Donald Trump's style of governance is consistent with pushing the 'envelope' with the hope that he can reach a compromise. This comes after a US court blocked Trump's Liberation Day tariffs. 'This is typical Donald Trump … the way to look at his presidency is he's a man in a hurry, he goes two steps forward knowing that in many cases he's going to go one step back,' Mr Kroger told Sky News host Gabriella Power. 'He pushes the envelope everywhere he can and then reaches some form of compromise. 'Of course, his decisions are going to be challenged, but he accepts that.'

‘Tactical blunder': Trump is ‘surrendering' military power in the name of peace

Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger says US President Donald Trump has surrendered American military power 'in the name of peace'. 'He made one major tactical blunder … he fell into this trap of believing he started no wars,' Mr Kroger told Sky News Digital Presenter Gabriella Power. 'Trump took this view and looked at himself and said, yeah … I should be up for a Nobel Peace Prize. 'So, he basically said to the world he's surrendering American military power in the name of peace.'

‘Spendathon': Labor government criticised for ‘exploding' debt

Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger says the 'world is exploding in debt' under a Labor government. 'The issues that are relevant to the Australian people and the reason why people vote for the Coalition in the first place, which is superior economic management, a better tax policy, smaller government, lower regulations,' Mr Kroger told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. 'We just get lost in a bidding war, well you're never going to win a spendathon against Labor, that's the exact opposite of what we stand for. 'We are at $1.2 trillion in debt federally, we've got $270 billion worth of gross debt in Victoria in four years time. 'The world is exploding in debt, sooner or later our kids are going to have to pay for this.'

‘Trades in fear': Albanese's net zero ‘shtick'

Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger criticises Anthony Albanese's 'shtick' of pushing fear in his election campaign. 'Albanese just trades in fear, that's his shtick; this is the hallmark of his prime ministership,' Mr Kroger told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. 'Fear of seas rising, fear of coastal communities being drowned … fear of nuclear, fear that Medicare will be slashed and burned. 'What he should do is come out and explain how we are going to get to net zero.'

Liberal-Nationals split ‘certainly helps' Anthony Albanese

Former Victorian Liberal Party president Michael Kroger discusses the "potentially disastrous" consequences of the split between the Nationals and Liberal Party. 'This is not helpful to the Nationals Party, this is not helpful to the Liberal Party, it certainly helps Albanese,' Mr Kroger told Sky News host Caleb Bond. 'The consequences of running separately are potentially disastrous for both the Liberal Party and the Nationals Party.'
