'Friday The 13th' Series 'Crystal Lake' Has Started Production
The Friday the 13th franchise is gradually coming back to life with the help of the all-new Jason Universe label. One of their upcoming projects is the new Crystal Lake TV series produced by A24 for release on the streaming service Peacock. Now, after years of development, Crystal Lake has finally started production.
Brad Caleb Kane, showrunner for the long-anticipated television endeavor, teased as much on his Instagram profile. As you can see below, he shared an image of a clapperboard being used on the set of the show. It features the working title ' Mama's Boy ' with a neatly-designed logo featuring a machete. Additionally, it lists Michael Lennox as a director and Maceo Bishop as the camera operator.

The cast of Crystal Lake is confirmed to include Linda Cardellini as Pamela Voorhees, William Catlett as Levon Brooks, Devin Kessler as Brianna Brooks, Cameron Scoggins as Dorf, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom as Grace. The characters played by Cardellini and Scoggins were in the original Friday the 13th movie, with Pamela Voorhees notably being the film's antagonist and the mother of franchise icon Jason Voorhees.
Many details regarding the project and how exactly it will tie into the greater franchise have so far been kept under wraps. However, it's expected that fans will be receiving more history regarding Pamela Voorhees and the titular Camp Crystal Lake than ever before. At a time when it's been nearly two decades since a Friday the 13th feature film was last released, fans are desperate for new material.
A release date for the highly-anticipated Friday the 13th series Crystal Lake has yet to be set. However, now that the series has finally entered production, it hopefully won't be too long before more details regarding the project are revealed. Until then, let's be glad that Crystal Lake has finally made some serious progress and cameras are officially rolling.
