Paws on the ice: Tyler Tofurry reps the Bay in "Stanley Pup" showdown
Thirty-two of the cutest hockey players will compete during the 2025 Stanley Cup between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers — including one representing the Bay Area.
State of play: The "Stanley Pup," a friendly competition featuring adoptable rescue dogs, is returning for the second year.
How it works: During the 90-minute special, the pups will play a canine version of hockey on synthetic ice.
Competing on behalf of the San Jose Sharks is Tyler Tofurry, a 12-week old puppy who is a certified master hair stylist, according to the NHL.
The show will premiere at 2:30pm on June 6 on TruTV.
What they're saying: "There's no need to purchase a puppy when you can open up your heart and home to give a wonderful life to a puppy that needs one," executive producer Michael Levitt tells Axios.
"We want to show everybody that shelter dogs are not second-string animals and deserve to be part of every family's starting lineup."
