Meet the secret weapon for Elm Grove Middle School basketball
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Like other Elm Grove Middle School students, 13-year-old Michael Tucker enjoys math and is on the school basketball team.
He is a beloved member of the school community with special needs, but he doesn't let that hold him back.
He has a reputation for being a team player and cheerleader. His parents say playing basketball has given him new confidence.
More Something Good with Lynn Vance
His coach, Chris Kourvelas, recently had Michael start one of the team's home games, and he scored. Kourvelas said, 'The way that I tried to work and practice and you can ask our guys is that you know although Michael may have a couple of differences about himself I am not necessarily going to treat him any different than I would from any other player on the team when it comes to things.'
Michael has taught fellow students that he is just the same as any other student, and that's Something Good.
