Domestic violence victims to be remembered at Flowers on the River, Rock Island
The Elephant Club and Family Resources will host their 14th annual 'Flowers on the River' event at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Schwiebert Riverfront Park, Rock Island, to remember those who have died from domestic violence.
During the event, the names of victims will be read along with a symbolic placement offlowers on the Mississippi River. It serves as a public display of community support, raises awareness about domestic violence, and provides a space for reflection and remembrance for victims and their families.
This year, guest speakers at the event will be Dr. Kit Evans-Ford, CEO of Argrow's House, and Michi Lacefield, Illinois domestic violence supervisor of Family Resources Survivor Services. The families of some victims being remembered at the event will also say a few words.
