1 dead, 11 injured in Elkhart shooting
ELKHART, Ind. – 1 person is dead and 11 are injured after an early morning shooting in Elkhart. Police say they were dispatched to W Garfield Ave on reports of shots fired when they found several victims. Those were transported to area hospitals via ambulance. Police say other victims also arrived at hospitals on their own. Crime scene investigators and officers are combing the area for evidence and the investigation is ongoing. 1 dead, 1 injured by gunfire at South Bend gas station; found in 2 separate locations
One person died and another is hospitalized after a shooting at a South Bend gas station took place Wednesday night. The South Bend Police Department responded to the area of Jefferson Boulevard and Logan Street around 9:30 p.m. May 21, on the report of shooting, the department said in a press release. Officers found a person suffering from an apparent gunshot wound who was later pronounced dead, police said. Police also located a second person with gunshot wounds at a separate location in Mishawaka, the department said. They were transported to the hospital for treatment, police said. The police department confirmed Thursday that both people shot were connected to the same incident. The department's Violent Crimes Unit is conducting an active investigation, but police said there is no ongoing threat to the community. Police have not released further information regarding either person involved as of Thursday morning as they are contacting family at this time.
