Jacky Wu on Mickey Huang divorce: It's long overdue!
23 May - Jacky Wu has things to say when it comes to disgraced TV personality Mickey Huang's rumoured divorce, one of them being that it was long overdue. The Taiwanese TV host did not mince words when asked for his two cents regarding the latest development in Mickey's personal life, saying that he would have advised Summer to leave Mickey a long time ago if he was the actress' family member. "Don't drag your wife and child into it. The child is completely innocent. Mickey Huang is basically a cancer in the industry, constantly using his sharp tongue to maliciously spread rumours and stir up trouble behind people's backs," he said. Reminding people that he was one of Mickey's slander victims, the TV personality added, "And the most disgusting thing this year was seeing him having a cozy coffee outing with his wife and daughter. I absolutely cannot accept it." It is noted that following the sexual harassment allegations against him back in June 2023, Mickey decided to post highly explosive confession videos accusing 18 other celebrities of misdeeds. Jacky was also named in the video, with Mickey accusing him of having been with multiple women including a former assistant. Jacky had since denied it and handed the issue to his lawyer. "If he has even a shred of conscience, he should get as far away as possible and never come back. Never show his face in front of everybody anymore... Mickey Huang and Summer Meng quietly end their marriage?
23 May - It was reported that Mickey Huang and Summer Meng have called it quits on their marriage amid his appeal case for possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Taiwanese news outlets reported that the couple have quietly ended their five-year marriage. It was said that in the divorce agreement, the custody of their daughter was given to Summer, while Mickey was responsible for paying child support. The court's arrangement did not only take into account the growth environment of the daughter, but also allows the two parents to find a new beginning in their respective lives. When asked about the matter, Mickey's rep responded, "Thank you for your concern but it is not convenient for Mr. Huang to respond. You need to ask my client, but the couple currently consider their daughter's peace as the first priority." It is noted that Summer's career has been deeply affected by Mickey's case, which started with an allegation of sexual harassment by multiple women in June 2023. The actress was also cut out from her drama, "The World Between Us 2" after viewers threatened boycott following paparazzi photos of her going out and spending family time with Mickey and their daughter amid his appeal for possession of CSAM case. Summer Meng's "The World Between Us II" appearances to be cut down
28 Mar - The team of "The World Between Us II" has finally relented after receiving threats of boycott from netizens that stemmed from the drama having Summer Meng as part of the cast. The crew of the drama recently issued a statement, saying that while it is difficult to delete all of her scenes or reshoot them with a different actress, they have decided to cut down her appearances in the drama to only the necessary parts. "During the original casting process, Summer Meng was cast after two rounds of auditions and interviews based on her own family life experiences. The focus of [the drama] has always been on how society views trauma - whether it is the victim, the perpetrator, or their family members, everyone may experience pain, struggle, and seek understanding in different positions," the production stated. "Unexpectedly, after her part was completed, the Mickey Huang case led to more serious evidence and lawsuits, and her subsequent responses and handling of the situation have indeed betrayed the trust and goodwill society placed in her. This is a consequence we must bear," they admitted. The crew added that what they can do best is to make cuts to her performance without damaging the integrity of the entire story, and promised to be more cautious in the future. It is noted that the public was previously sympathetic towards Summer following her husband Mickey Huang's arrest and subsequent indictment for child sexual exploitation. However, the actress sparked fury among many after she was photographed happily out and about with Mickey and their daughter while her husband awaits his appeal, seemingly unperturbed by the gravity of her husband's crime.
