Amy Schumer reveals positive results from Mounjaro weight loss journey after Wegovy side effects, praises hormone therapy
Amy Schumer has opened up about her current health journey, revealing that she's seeing strong results using the weight loss drug Mounjaro. In a candid Instagram video filmed from her car, the 43-year-old comedian said she is 'having a really good experience' combining Mounjaro with hormone therapy to address symptoms of perimenopause. The Life & Beth star recalled trying Wegovy three years ago, saying, 'I was like puking, I couldn't handle it. I don't know if they've changed the formula, whatever.' After experiencing negative side effects, Schumer pursued telehealth support and was prescribed estrogen and progesterone. She added Mounjaro to her treatment plan soon after. 'The symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared. My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy. I want to 'get down' more, if you know what I mean,' she said, clarifying with a smile, 'I'm talking about sex.' Schumer told fans she's aware that Mounjaro is typically prescribed for type 2 diabetes and that insurance rarely covers it for off-label use, joking, 'severe obesity, which most of the Internet thinks I have.' Still, she noted the drug has been beneficial for her and wanted to be transparent. 'I'm having a really good experience, so I wanted to keep it real with you about that,' she said. She also credited virtual clinic Midi Health for prescribing the treatment. 'I liked it so much, and it was such a good experience that I invested in the company,' she revealed. Other celebrity investors include Connie Britton, Brandi Chastain, Tory Burch, and Sheryl Sandberg's venture firm. In her usual comedic tone, Schumer ended the video with a light-hearted promise: 'I want to commit to you that I will never get lip fillers, so you can always enjoy that I have no top lip.'

Amy Schumer having 'good experience' with new weight loss drug after suffering severe Ozempic side effects
Amy Schumer's experience with Mounjaro has been vastly different from when she tried an alternative weight-loss medication years ago. Schumer, 43, praised the effects of Mounjaro (also known as tirzepatide) in a video clip shared on Instagram with her nearly 13 million followers. In a previous attempt to lose weight, the comedian experienced debilitating side effects while using Ozempic for weight-loss purposes. "I wanted to share and keep it 100 with you, that years ago – and yes, this is completely unsafe to be driving and making a video – years ago, three years ago, I tried WeGovy and I was like puking," Schumer said in the clip captured while she was behind the wheel. "I couldn't handle it. I don't know if they've changed the formula or whatever … but anyway, I went on this telehealth meeting with MidiHealth, and it was cheap. I wanted to try it myself, cause I wanted to recommend it to my friends who are like nurses and teachers." In addition to the injectable medication, which is primarily used to treat type 2 diabetes, the "Trainwreck" star has a new routine which includes hormones. "They put me on estrogen and progesterone because I realized I was in perimenopause and my symptoms of being in perimenopause have disappeared," Schumer said. "My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy, I want to get down more if you know what I mean – I'm talking about sex." She added, "So that's been great, Mounajro's been great … I'm having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that." Schumer admitted she had such a good experience with the telemedicine company that she also invested in MidiHealth. She signed off her video with a question about the royals, and asked, "I'm not going to stir the pot, but why don't we have to call Kate Middleton Kate of Wales? Ok, Hilaria. Out." Earlier this year, the "Kinda Pregnant" actress told Howard Stern that she was forced to quit Ozempic due to terrible side effects. "I have this gene – GDF15 – which makes you extremely prone to nausea which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy. So, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was like bedridden, I was vomiting and then you have no energy but other people take it and they're all good," she said on "The Howard Stern Show." "I lost 30 pounds so quick," she said. "I looked great and I couldn't lift my head off the pillow, so what's the point?" Ozempic, which is a semaglutide injection, was originally approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes, but the medication has increasingly been prescribed off label for weight loss, along with several other similar medications.

Amy Schumer Shares NSFW Confession on Sex Life With Husband Chris
Originally appeared on E! Online Amy Schumer isn't joking about this confession. The comedian revealed that she's been undergoing hormone replacement therapy for perimenopause as well as using weight-loss medication—and it's had some pleasant effects on her sex life. "My hair is fuller, my skin is better," she said in a video posted to her Instagram March 21. "I have more energy, I wanna get down more, you know what I mean ... I'm talking about sex." She explained that she began the process with the help of telehealth company Midi Health, upon discovering she was in perimenopause, which is 'the time during which your body makes the natural transition to menopause,' according to Mayo Clinic. Amy—who is mom to son Gene, 5, with husband Chris Fischer—shared that since beginning the journey, her 'symptoms from being perimenopause have disappeared." She also noted that she had such a good experience using Midi Health that she has invested in them. More from E! Amy also revealed that she's 'having a really good experience' with being on the GLP-1 medication Mounjaro to aid in weight loss. "I'm having a really good experience with it," she shared. "I wanted to keep it real with you." Amy has long been open about her health battles. In fact, the Kinda Pregnant star recently delved into her Cushing's Syndrome diagnosis—and how online comments helped her to identify the condition, which according to Mayo Clinic, "can result from the body making too much cortisol." "The internet really came for me after doing a bunch of press, and I was like, 'OK, everybody like, relax,'" she told host Alex Cooper on a January episode of Call Her Daddy. "But then doctors were chiming in in the comments." She continued, "And I'm like, 'Wait, I'm getting trolled by doctors?' They were like, 'We think you have something called Cushing and it's about spiking cortisol—about cortisol levels and steroids, injection whatever.'" After looking into it, Amy confirmed that she had Cushing in February 2024. Luckily, she learned it was the kind she could take care of. "So anyway, I got rid of [it]," she said. 'Like, it just has to work itself out." For more celebrity health scares, read on. Amy Schumer Wants to 'Get Down, if You Know What I Mean' Since Taking Hormones for Perimenopause: 'I'm Talking About Sex'
Amy Schumer is getting real about her health. In a candid video posted to Instagram on March 21, the actress and comedian, 43, opened up about undergoing hormone replacement therapy for perimenopause as well as using weight-loss medication. "They put me on estrogen and progesterone because I realized I was in perimenopause," Schumer shared. "And my symptoms from being perimenopause have disappeared." Also known as menopausal transition, perimenopause is the transitional period before menopause when levels of estrogen start to decrease, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It often causes menopause-like symptoms, such as hot flashes or irregular periods, and can last for years. Receiving estrogen and progesterone (hormone replacement therapy) helped Schumer with some of those symptoms. "My hair is fuller, my skin is better," she continued. "I have more energy, I wanna get down more, you know what I mean ... I'm talking about sex."
