TCRAS assists in animal cruelty investigation, takes in 14 pets

(TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — The Teller County Regional Animal Shelter (TCRAS) lent a helping paw this past month and took in over 10 pets after assisting in an animal cruelty investigation. At the end of February, TCRAS helped animals from a large-scale animal cruelty investigation in a neighboring county where approximately 70 dogs were removed from a home due to the conditions and treatment of the animals. According to the animal shelter, they took in 11 Daschunds and three cats. Including Crumble, pictured below, one of the Daschunds that was rescued. 'These sweet souls needed TLC and hope for a new beginning after being removed from horbile conditions,' said TCRAS. 'They needed quality food, access to clean water at all times, a clean living environment to move around in, and extensive dental care to relieve the pain and suffering they had endured.' TCRAS said they offered the pets nutritious food, and they began to gain the weight they needed. They also said that they allowed them to move around and play like 'normal, happy dogs.' The dogs also received dental treatment, many had several teeth removed due to a dental disease. 'We are seeing more cases of neglect and cruelty starting early in 2025,' TCRAS said. 'We want to provide quality care to these suffering animals who need our help.' In order to continue helping, TCRAS said it hopes to cover the $5,000 it cost for the Daschunds to have a new beginning, so they can have funds available for the next animals that may need the Mighty Medical Fund, which was used to help the neglected pets. 'Our mission is Fostering Hope and New Beginnings for animals like the 11 dachshunds and three cats. These animals need hope that their new beginnings await them after being in deplorable situations.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
