Though no one was injured, Salem police said participants in the street takeover engaged in reckless behavior. At one point, there were some reports of people throwing water bottles and beer cans at police cars.
The crowd at the initial rally Saturday afternoon was about 300 people. But by the time the street takeover at the intersection of Lancaster Drive and Market Street Northeast, there were about 50 people, police said.
The five people who were arrested that night were all men, ranging in age from 18 to 34. One of them was accused of unlawful gun possession.

On Thursday, Police made two additional arrests. Salem residents, 27-year-old Miguel Garcia Ramirez and 30-year-old Armando Castaneda Lopez are both accused of organizing the speed racing event, conspiracy to commit reckless driving, second-degree disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief. They were both booked into the Marion County Jail.
Both of the suspect's cars — Garcia-Ramirez's 2019 Dodge Charger and Castaneda Lopez's 1999 BMW 328 — were towed.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
