Kansas City man discovers $50K Powerball win 2 months after buying ticket
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man in Kansas City, Missouri, realized he was the winner of a $50,000 Powerball prize nearly two months after buying the ticket.
The said the man purchased the Powerball ticket at Mike's Cut Rate Liquors at W. 85th and Wornall Road for the April 19 drawing.

'I only play a couple times a year, and I actually didn't check the ticket for like two months,' the winner explained to the Missouri Lottery.
He told the Missouri Lottery that he finally got around to checking the ticket at a retailer and saw an unexpected message on the screen.
'It said something that I'd never seen before, so I took it up to the counter and had them check it,' he said.
The clerk scanned it and saw the $50,000 prize on the screen.
'He just handed it to me and said, 'Congratulations,' and I left so quickly,' he said.
The Missouri Lottery said the winner already had a family vacation planned, which ended up being the day after he learned about the winning ticket.

The winning numbers on April 19 were 7, 25, 37, 39 and 63 with a Powerball number of 1. The player, who matched four of the white-ball numbers, as well as the Powerball number drawn, claimed the prize on June 5 at the Missouri Lottery's regional office in Kansas City.
