Letter: Mike Berry obituary
Those of us in a back room at the Half Moon in Putney, west London, were lucky enough to see the singer, songwriter and sometime actor Mike Berry only a few weeks before his death. He was in good voice, still played a mean rhythm guitar, and did two wonderful sets of songs interspersed with entertaining chat, stories and reminiscences. He was also a thoroughly nice guy and clearly still enjoyed playing and entertaining people.

MongoDB downgraded as AI tailwinds are likely slower than expected
-- Loop Capital downgraded MongoDB (NASDAQ:MDB) to Hold from Buy and slashed its price target to $190 from $350 in a note Tuesday. The firm highlighted concerns over slowing adoption of the company's Atlas platform and delayed benefits from artificial intelligence (AI) workloads. 'Our most recent industry checks indicate that its highly strategic Atlas platform continues to show lackluster market adoption,' Loop Capital analysts wrote. 'This decelerating trend could continue, which we believe could result in slower ramp of AI-related workloads on the Atlas platform.' Loop warned that while AI hype continues to grow, MongoDB may not see a proportional benefit in the near term. The firm noted that MongoDB's target market for cloud database platforms remains 'highly fragmented,' with organizations unlikely to standardize on a single vendor like MDB for all AI deployments. 'This scenario will likely result in a slower ramp of AI-related workloads running on the MDB platform vs. the pace of overall AI deployments,' the analysts said. Additionally, industry contacts are said to have told Loop that large enterprises may be less inclined to consolidate their database platforms due to GenAI reducing development complexity. 'This could lead to organizations opting for low-cost alternatives, including open source platforms such as PostgreSQL,' explained the firm. Despite heavy investment in targeting large enterprises, Loop sees limited progress. 'The need to consolidate and standardize on one platform within a large organization to generate more efficiency and lower maintenance cost is becoming less relevant,' the note said. Loop did acknowledge MongoDB's long-term strengths, including 'a large, loyal community consisting of 7M+ developers,' but flagged short-term risks, including transition-related uncertainty as new CFO Mike Berry joins the company later this month. While first-quarter estimates remain unchanged, Loop lowered its Atlas growth trajectory going forward due to persistent weakness in new workloads and a slower AI ramp. MongoDB (NasdaqGM:MDB) Sees 21% Stock Rise Over Last Month
MongoDB witnessed a 20% price increase over the last month, likely supported by significant developments such as the appointment of Mike Berry as Chief Financial Officer and the renewal of its strategic partnership with TencentDB. These moves highlight a focus on strengthening leadership and technology capabilities. The broader market also experienced growth, with a 4% rise over the past week. While MongoDB's stock performance is notably more substantial than the general market trend, these corporate advancements would have added weight to the company's robust movement. MongoDB has 3 warning signs we think you should know about. Trump has pledged to "unleash" American oil and gas and these 22 US stocks have developments that are poised to benefit. The recent developments at MongoDB, including the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer and renewal of its partnership with TencentDB, may bolster the company's strategic positioning in AI and technology capabilities. While these moves have catalyzed a short-term share price boost of 20%, the company's shares have seen a total return decline of 2.16% over the past five years. This indicates challenges in sustaining long-term gains, particularly as MongoDB's recent one-year performance fell short of the broader US market return of 11.6% and the US IT industry's 26.6% gain. Expectations for MongoDB's future revenue and earnings growth are cautiously optimistic with analyst forecasts suggesting a revenue increase of 15.9% annually over the next three years, yet profitability remains elusive in this period. The focus on AI and app modernization could provide a revenue uplift, yet fiscal '26 may not see significant contributions. With a consensus analyst price target of US$264.11, the company's current share price of US$174.69 shows a 33.9% discount. Investors may need to evaluate these elements alongside their own assumptions about MongoDB's capacity to achieve these projections. In light of our recent valuation report, it seems possible that MongoDB is trading behind its estimated value. This article by Simply Wall St is general in nature. MongoDB CFO appointment removes some overhang on shares, says BofA
After MongoDB (MDB) announced that Mike Berry will join the company as CFO, BofA says the appointment of a 'seasoned software executive with a proven track record of driving profitable growth' as the new CFO removes some overhang on the stock after almost five months since former CFO Michael Gordon announced his intention to step down. The firm, which sees limited downside at current levels, looks for a healthy topline reacceleration to provide a catalyst from here and reiterates a Buy rating and $215 price target on MongoDB shares.
