It's a busy March for the PREMIER Center
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — March is an active month at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. From the Summit League basketball tournament to the final games of hockey season, it's all hands on deck. 'State basketball is this week. I've got gymnastics in the building this weekend. I've got a dance competition in the building this weekend,' General Manager at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Mike Krewson said. SDSU fans predict their team's victory The PREMIER Center hosts a variety of activities year-round, but what makes March unique is most of the events span multiple days. 'Those events that take up multiple days, we have to plan those out years in advance and then see what's left over for some of these other smaller events or one day events,' Krewson said. With such an action-packed month comes its challenges. 'Tight turnaround, a lot of hours for not only our full-time staff, but for our part-time staff as well,' Director of Event Services Blake Gothier said. 'In the ten-year history of the facility, this has always been one of the months that is the most challenging to get events in and out.' But there's also opportunity. 'There's a certain level of satisfaction that we were able to accommodate so many people and so many people were able to come through our doors, whether it's the arena doors, the convention doors, or the PREMIER Center doors,' Krewson said. After the 'March rush,' staff at the PREMIER Center said they'll be replacing the center scoreboard sometime this summer along with other enhancements. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
