Horoscope for Sunday, May 25th, 2025

The laid-back vibe for today encourages us to keep our schedules light. The current cosmic weather is perfect for doing anything that falls under the umbrella of easy and enjoyable. However, if there is any work to be done, a slow, methodical approach will help us stay aligned with the energy of the day. That said, the late evening will be better for productivity, giving night owls the advantage. For those of us interested in more leisurely activities, the evening hours are ideal for catching up on reading, binge-watching a new show, having good conversation, or indulging in our favourite hobbies. SCORPIO (Oct. 23 to Nov. 21) Recognize what problems are solely yours to fix and what are not. Focus on the things that are within your control. SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 to Dec. 21) Avoid taking on more than you can handle. Get into the practice of saying 'no.' CAPRICORN (Dec. 22 to Jan. 19) Act with empathy and kinless toward others, not through ego. George Wendt, a.k.a. Norm From ‘Cheers,' Is Dead at 76

George Wendt, who earned six consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his role as the bearish, beer-quaffing Everyman Norm Peterson on the enduring sitcom 'Cheers,' died on Tuesday morning at home in Studio City, Calif. He was 76. His death was confirmed by his manager, Geoff Cheddy, who did not specify a cause. Over more than four decades, Mr. Wendt racked up about 170 film and television credits. But he was best known for 'Cheers.' He appeared on every episode of the sitcom during its 11-year run on NBC, which began in 1982. His streak of Emmy nominations for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series began in 1984. Mr. Wendt, a native of the South Side of Chicago, started his entertainment career in inglorious fashion, sweeping the floors at the Second City, the famed improvisational comedy club in his hometown that helped launched the careers of generations of stars, including John Belushi, Mike Myers, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. In 1974, he became part of the Second City's touring production and resident company. 'I had no acting experience in my background,' he said in a 2013 interview with The Democrat and Chronicle newspaper of Rochester, N.Y., 'but something just clicked.' He remained with the company until 1980. With his easy charm and lunch-pail demeanor, Mr. Wendt headed for Hollywood to appear in the pilot for an NBC show called 'Nothing but Comedy․'He later popped up on popular television shows like 'Taxi,' 'Alice' and 'Hart to Hart' before becoming one of America's favorite barflies on 'Cheers.' He later said that his pronounced girth was key to the role, making Norm the relatable guy that viewers would feel like sidling up next to at their neighborhood bar. 'One nice thing about being fat for a living is that you don't worry about losing weight or dieting,' Mr. Wendt once said. 'I don't know how much I'd have to lose before it was noticeable. Anyhow, if I lost 100 pounds people would say, 'Oh, no, not another fat comedian wanting to be a leading man!'' While the Norm character felt natural to who he was, he said, there were definitely differences between fiction and reality. 'The Norm you see in 'Cheers' has been years in the making,' he said. 'I have some characteristics in common with him besides our fondness for beer. But I think I'm a lot happier than Norm.' He added: 'I was a beer drinker long before 'Cheers.' When I put a couple of six packs on top of my grocery shopping cart, people are pleased. I tell 'em I'm taking them home to rehearse.' A complete obituary will be published soon.

Kanye West is savaged as Mike Myers returns to Saturday Night Live to recreate THAT awkward TV moment

Saturday Night Live royalty Mike Myers returned to the sketch comedy series this weekend to poke fun at one of him most awkward moments from live television. The 61-year-old Wayne's World star dropped by for a sketch in which Kenan Thompson, 47, played a version Kanye West that didn't depart far his current antics. Myers found himself stuck in an elevator alone with Kanye 20 years after he was famously caught by surprise when West said that 'George [W.] Bush doesn't care about Black people' during an impromptu speech on a live telethon raising funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Myers' shocked expression at the rapper's statement decades ago became the fodder of memes, though he later said he was 'very proud to have been next to' West when he made his surprise statement. Though the comedian shared his support for West's claims that the federal government wasn't responding to the plight of stranded Black people in the same way it would have responded for white people affected by Katrina, he made it clear that he wasn't a fan of West's current persona. In Saturday's sketch — which also included a joke about Sean 'Diddy' Combs' ongoing trial — Mike played himself getting into an elevator, which was already populated by the season 50 finale's guest host Scarlett Johansson and Marcello Hernandez, who both played shocked fans excited to see the comedy icon. Myers found himself stuck in an elevator alone with Kanye 20 years after he was famously caught by surprise when West said that 'George [W.] Bush doesn't care about Black people' during an impromptu speech on a live telethon raising funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina But after Marcello got off the elevator and Scarlett confessed that she and her girlfriends 'quote Shrek all the time' — and Myers quipped, 'That's a little weird' — suddenly Thompson's version of Kanye West stepped on the elevator. 'Oh, my God. Is that Kanye West?!' the panicked Austin Powers star said as Thompson entered the elevator. Johansson's character immediately got off, and Myers called out to her: 'You can't leave me alone in here with him!' Thompson was dressed in West's current uniform with a black shirt, matching sunglasses and what looked like a prosthetic in his mouth to stand in for West's $850,000 titanium smile, the result of permanent 'fixed prosthodontics.' The two then awkwardly reminisced over their time together on screen at the Hurricane Katrina fundraiser, when Myers didn't even know who West was. The Love Guru star 'had to stand there looking stupid,' Thompson said of the cringey TV moment. The sketch featured repeated jokes about and allusions to West's stream of antisemitic statements in recent years. 'So what have you been up to?' Myers said as he tried to make some small talk. I'm in the KKK now,' Thompson joked in character. Then West brought up his friend Diddy and his salacious trial on racketeering and sex-trafficking charges for another awkward interaction. 'This Diddy stuff crazy, right?' Thompson said as West. 'Diddy, he's on trial right now for, like, a bunch of stuff. It's so crazy, man. You think you know a guy. Turns out to be a full crazy monster.' Myers only got a confused response from the rapper when he replied, 'So what happened to you?' In another section, when Myers said he needed to get out of the elevator because he gets 'really claustrophobic,' the SNL cast member replied, 'Oh, trust me, I understand. I'm a few phobics myself.' Then West awkward asked Myers if his last name was Jewish, at which point the Wayne's World star began smashing button in hopes of getting off quickly, which caused the elevator to stop in place between floors. Myers was so desperate to end the encounter that he suggested they start jumping up and down, even if it meant the elevator might crash. 'No man, I don't like doing crazy stuff,' Thompson replied with a perfect deadpan expression. Then West awkward asked Myers if his last name was Jewish, at which point the Wayne's World star began smashing button in hopes of getting off quickly, which caused the elevator to stop in place between floors Toward the end of the sketch, Thompson's version of West put on a mask connected to what was supposed to be a nitrous oxide canister as he took a hit of the gas. The joke references West's former chief-of-staff Milo Yiannopoulos' claims last year that the rapper had gotten hooked on the gas — which is also known as 'laughing gas' and is commonly used as a recreational drug — by his dentist. The right-wing activist claimed that Ye was given nearly unfettered access to the drug for purely recreational use after installing the rapper's controversial prosthodontics. Earlier this month, West and his wife Bianca Censori announced plans to sue the dentist, Dr. Thomas Connelly, after the rapper said he had developed a chemical dependency on nitrous oxide as a result of the provider's alleged misconduct. They accused Connelly of allowing West to use the gas via large tanks delivered to his home with few safeguards, and often without supervision. West's complaint alleges that he began suffering 'distressing neurological symptoms and erratic behavior consistent with nitrous oxide overuse and toxicity', which the letter says includes 'confusion, memory lapses, incoherence, unpredictable changes in mood, impaired motor function, and other cognitive and behavioral impairments.'

‘Ye' and Mike Myers Reunite in ‘SNL' Elevator Sketch 20 Years After Hurricane Katrina Telethon: Watch

Ever wondered what a reunion between Ye (formerly Kanye West) and Mike Myers might look like nearly 20 years after their infamous Hurricane Katrina telethon moment? Saturday Night Live has the answer. In a hilariously awkward sketch during the SNL season 50 finale on May 17, the Austin Powers star finds himself trapped in an elevator with the embattled rapper — and does everything he can to escape the uncomfortable encounter. After a few stops, Ye (portrayed by Kenan Thompson) enters mid-phone call, complaining about Spotify pulling his controversial new track 'Cousins.' 'Oh, my God. Is that Kanye West,' Myers whispers in horror as Johansson's character quickly exits. 'You can't leave me alone in here with him,' he pleads. Once alone, West turns to Myers, noting it's the first time they've seen each other since their 2005 Hurricane Katrina telethon — when West famously declared on live TV that then-President George Bush didn't care about Black people, leaving Myers stunned on screen. You 'had to stand there looking stupid,' Thompson's West reminds him. Trying to shift the mood, Myers asks, 'So what have you been up to?' 'Oh, me? I'm in the KKK now,' the rapper replies. The awkward exchange continues with small talk about their kids, before Ye abruptly shifts topics to Diddy, who's currently on trial for sex trafficking. 'This Diddy stuff crazy, right?' West says. 'Diddy, he's on trial right now for, like, a bunch of stuff. It's so crazy, man. You think you know a guy. Turns out to be a full crazy monster.' When Myers asks, 'So what happened to you?' Thompson's West seeks clarification, only for Myers to quickly brush it off. The encounter spirals further as Ye questions whether Myers' last name is Jewish, the elevator appears to get stuck, and the hip-hop star takes a hit from a canister of nitrous oxide. Moments later, Myers bolts for the exit. Elsewhere in the episode, Bad Bunny performed as the musical guest, delivering two songs — 'NUEVAYoL' and 'PERFuMITO NUEVO' — from his sixth album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos. Watch the performances here.
