Gallery: Do you feature in our 30 past party photos of Paramount Bar?
Paramount Bar has stood the test of time and been a stalwart of Aberdeen's night scene for 30 years. The Bon Accord Street bar opened in May 1995 when Aberdeen's night scene was booming. Paramount quickly made headlines for quirky publicity stunts like television screens on urinals featuring Rangers players, which didn't go down well with Gers fans. But that didn't stop it being named best new bar at the Scottish Discotheque Pub and Club Awards in 1995. Then-proprietor Mike Wilson pointing out there was 'something for everyone at Paramount'. He added: 'It is an excellent venue for a reasonably-priced business lunch. At the weekend, however, people can really let their hair down and take advantage of our extensive cocktail list in a fun, relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere.' In 2001, the Evening Express' pub spy reviewer described Paramount as 'one of the city's hippest, busiest hang-outs'. And fast-forward nearly 25 years later, it remains one of the top spots for going out in town. While Paramount dropped its food offering over the years, it firmly established itself as a premier cocktail bar. A favourite spot for birthdays and university nights out, our photographers were often on hand to capture the celebrations. Perhaps you'll spot some familiar faces in our gallery of past party pics from Paramount?

No. 14 seed Tennessee baseball has third-best odds to win 2025 College World Series
No. 14 seed Tennessee baseball has third-best odds to win 2025 College World Series Tennessee baseball has the third-best odds to win the 2025 College World Series entering the NCAA Tournament. DraftKings has the Vols with +850 odds to win the national championship, trailing only Arkansas (+475) and LSU (+650). Vanderbilt, the No. 1 overall seed, has +1200 odds. Tennessee won the program's first national title in 2024. No champion has repeated since South Carolina won back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011. The Vols (43-16) are the No. 14 national seed heading into the postseason. They open the Knoxville Regional as the No. 1 seed in the regional against No. 4 seed Miami (Ohio) on May 30 (6 p.m. ET, ESPN+). No. 2 seed Wake Forest (36-20) and No. 3 seed Cincinnati (32-24) are on the opposite side of the bracket. The Knoxville Regional is paired with the Fayetteville Regional, which is hosted by No. 3 national seed Arkansas. The winners of the two regionals will face in the super regional. Arkansas beat Tennessee in the final regular-season series. Regionals will take place May 30-June 2. Super regionals are slated for June 6-8 or June 7-9. The College World Series at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska, starts June 13. Tennessee is hosting a regional for the fourth time in the past five seasons. The Vols advanced to the College World Series as a host and the No. 3 national seed in 2021. They hosted again in 2022 as the No. 1 overall seed but lost in a three-game super regional to Notre Dame. They did not host in 2023, but reached CWS by winning the Clemson Regional and the Hattiesburg Super Regional. PREVIEW: Why Tennessee baseball will – and won't – win Knoxville NCAA Regional UT hosted as the No. 1 seed in 2024, winning a regional and super regional at home before winning the program's first national title. It was the first time the No. 1 seed won the CWS since Miami in 1999. Tennessee has made six straight NCAA Tournament appearances under coach Tony Vitello. UT had a breakthrough in 2019 to gain a bid for the first time since 2005. It was a No. 2 seed in the Chapel Hill Regional that season, falling to the Tar Heels in the final.
