Italian media casts doubt on Ibrahimovic's Milan future

Italian media casts doubt on Ibrahimovic's Milan future Zlatan Ibrahimovic hasn't yet returned to Milanello and with Giorgio Furlani set to pick Milan's new sporting director, the ex-striker's future at the club remains uncertain. Milan are in the process of hiring a new sporting director, with CEO Furlani having the final say on the successful candidate. The Milan director has already held talks with Fabio Paratici and will meet other candidates in the coming weeks. The ex-striker has been serving as an Advisor to the RedBird ownership since December 2023 and has contributed to making key decisions regarding the first team, including hiring coaches Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceiçao this season. Advertisement Ibra also interviewed candidates for the sporting director role, but Furlani was tasked with appointing a new director after meeting with Gerry Cardinale this month. Sky Sport Italia already reported that 'internal balance' within the club would be discussed in the coming weeks. Ibrahimovic's recent distance from the first team, partially due to a flu, seems to suggest that his duties may change in 2025-26, provided that he keeps his role.

MN: Conceicao offers Milan squad three days of rest as break commences

After another three point weekend, the AC Milan squad have been granted another rest by Sergio Conceicao, meaning Milanello will be quiet at the start of the break. Once again, Milan were able to find three points from a losing position, leading Conceicao to state that he believes his team are growing. Despite this potentially having some mixed reaction, the Portuguese feels strongly about his side's ability to continue on the up, and the fans will hope this much is true too. With the elimination from the Champions League, Conceicao has had slightly more of a chance to work with his team at Milanello, due to the less strenuous schedule. However, he is not taking the opportunity to overwork his team. Last week, the Portuguese offered his team a mini-rest after the win against Lecce, and after beating Como, in a very similar fashion, he has repeated his actions. As Milan News states, the head coach has given his side three days off, meaning training will commence again at Milanello on Wednesday. However, there is a caveat to this. Given the next few weeks are the international break, the called-up players within the squad will not be given this rest, and they will not benefit from the extra time to train with the coach. Nevertheless, Conceicao still wants the remaining 15 players to have a chance to recharge their batteries.
