Jordan's air bridge delivers tons of aid to Gaza
On Tuesday, Jordan's Government spokesperson, Dr. Mohammad Al-Momani, along with the Director of Military Media, Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hayari, and the Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, Hussein Al-Shibli, held a press conference at King Abdullah II Airbase in Al-Ghabawi to announce the launch of a humanitarian air bridge to Gaza. The initiative, directed by His Majesty the King, will operate for 8 days, with 16 daily flights from the Royal Jordanian Air Force in coordination with friendly countries. Italy has already contributed two planes, and other nations, including the UK and Azerbaijan, are expected to participate in the coming days. Momani emphasized that this effort is part of Jordan's ongoing humanitarian commitment, with the country being the first to break the blockade on Gaza by land and air. The operation will transport urgent relief, medical, and food supplies via the Al-Qarara crossing in Gaza, strategically located to expedite aid distribution across the region. Shibli highlighted that, alongside the air bridge, 100 trucks carrying aid had entered Gaza. The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization will continue its humanitarian support to Gaza through both land and air shipments. Brigadier General Al-Hayari stated that the air bridge is a continuation of Jordan's ongoing relief efforts, which have already included 8 previous airlifts, totaling 7 tons of aid. The Royal Jordanian Air Force has also conducted 391 air drops, and Jordan's field hospitals in Gaza have treated over 370,000 patients. This air bridge will deliver 20 tons of humanitarian supplies daily for the next 8 days, in partnership with the World Food Program to ensure aid reaches those in need. Since the start of the war, Jordan has sent over 5,500 aid trucks to Gaza and remains committed to supporting the Palestinian people in their time of crisis.
